Hiya,

Errr, the Steam version of X3:TC is popping that up now everytime I start it. Any thoughts? This was just today. Thanks.

Mine too - I just allowed it to install and it didn't ask again.
My favourite memory of the X series was babysitting that TL across half the universe in XTension and finally arriving in Getsu Fune to be gifted the TL! I called her Big Bad Orca...

I'm not sure why it's coming up for X3:TC now specifically, but just let it install. Plenty of games include it and it just makes sure that some of the underlying components needed are installed and up to date, a bit like when games used to be distributed with DirectX installation tools.

Just happened to me as well. I'm thinking it is for Steam and nothing to do with X3:TC.

(It would appear that the Steam client just had another update.)
