BIOS update:

Post by Looney »

Ok i do not know that much about computers, and in ordinary circumstances.... i would go by the WARNING of never mess with the BIOS unless absolutely nescessary.
FOR ME for both X3 R and TC on VISTA 32 this was the case.
I found after undating all of the drivers for graph card and sound, and even for motherboard controllers.... that both games were unstable.
Often had the sound looping freeze. Sometimes would crash to desktop with a various error. And sometimes the blue screen of death.

But, after trying everything else... i updated by bios and in the end this solved the problem.... in conjunction with new driver updates.
I suppose the logic goes.... vista is new.... new drivers are being made with varying success.... and the bios has to be updated on occasion on such a new OS to cope/learn from the new developments.

I know little.... but i know it worked for me.

Check your motherboard manufacturers web site for updates if you wish to take this course.... be sure to read update instructions carefully. The sites forums for the motherboard are also of great help. Make sure you read up well if things go wrong. If they do...... I found resetting/clearing the CMOS works. (i did it by just popping out the Battery cell on motherboard for 10 mins) And redoing.

Hope this helps,.... maybe someone wiser than me can lend a hand....
(me looks at the ever so wise CBJ :-) )

Hope this is of some help...
