Threads merged. Please don't start a new thread for every related question, and don't post the same question in multiple threads.
In answer to your question, it depends on what why you want to show them to people. Note that as BugMeister has already explained you cannot "upload" them to this forum; you have to upload them somewhere else and provide a link.

Also, don't forget to read the rules on image size as well. If you do wish to post a large image, it's best to use either a thumbnail or standard text link, otherwise you'll feel the wrath of the moderators, as well as from those who are still on dialup.
As per the rules:
8. Images posted should not exceed 640 x 480 and 100kb in size
And it has to fit both criteria. you can't post a 80kb 800x600 image, nor can you post a 160kb 640x480 picture
For a pictoral walkthrough of http://www.imageshack.us/:
First, find the image you'd like to post on your computer using imageshacks browse button:
[ external image ][ external image ]
If you would like to remove the black size bar as seen on the bottom of my thumbnail, select Remove size/resolution bar from thumbnail. I prefer to keep it so that those clicking on it will have a heads up as to its size and dimensions.
As you can see, they have a size restriction of 1.53 mb. (3.00 if you register) The nice thing about imageshack is it will scale the image resolution down automatically if it exceeds this number, so don't be suprised if your 1920x1200 image suddenly drops down to 1024x768. You can also manually resize the image by checking the 'resize image?' box and choosing one of the options.
Once you've chosen a image and clicked the 'Host it!' button, it should take you to this screen:
[ external image ][ external image ]
Here it gives you a few options to choose from. If you'd like to use a thumbnail view like i've been using, highlight everything within the box marked 'Thumbnail for forums (1)', copy it, then paste it in your message to get this:
[ external image ][ external image ]
'Thumbnail for forums (2)' doesn't work on egosofts forum, rather you'd use it to post images on forums where the 1st option doesn't work.
The other option is of course the text link at the very bottom in the box labelled 'show image to friends.' Even better if you use the forums URL tags to shrink it down, ie insert link here]description to turn this:
http://img363.imageshack.us/my.php?imag ... 536fa8.jpg into something like: Heli pic.
Never use the 'Hotlink for forums' option, or post an image link using the forums Img tags around it unless you're certain that the image is not going to violate the forums size restrictions. Those methods will post the full size image in all its glory on the forum, and if it happens to be a 5mb 3200x2400 photo, one of the moderators will probably personally make a special trip to your home to smack you across the back of the head. If you're lucky, they might just fix it and give you a warning.
If you do wish to post a forum approved™ image, use 'Hotlink for forums (1)' for something like:
[ external image ]
To resize images yourself, I'd recommend using a program like http://www.irfanview.com/ which lets you play around with it a little more than with paint.
