Lost main story quest

I in annoyance canceled the the flight school tutorial and went off trading and fighting and after 10 hours i realized that i had not got the main quest.
Went back to the flight school guy and he was just a normal NPC. If I start a new game its fine but i really don't want to lose all my progress, is there some hidden script i could run to start the main quest? or will I just have to start again and cheat my way back up? Unless i am stupid and the main quest is somewhere else. Anyway bug is if you cancel the tutorial you cant restart it.

Don't worry, the flight school isn't part of the main quest. What start did you pick? If you are Terran, you should be able to see your main quest in "My Missions". Use "Activate guidance" and it will point you to the start.

I took the argon merchant start, and I don't have any missions in my missions log anymore, I mean I have done about 30 random missions now, but haven't seen any story quest, unless there inst one for non terran

For non-Terran starts, you need to do a 'bridge mission'. This only shows up when you enter a certain sector.
