Post by Rmaccc »

why the ffffffffffffffffffffffffff
does this game fffffffffffffffffffffffff
ssssssssssssssssssstutter
so bbbbbbbbbbbbbadly
after a few hour playing ??????????

isnt a tech question as my system runs it smooth as silk on start, and for a few hours.
then it eats 2 gigs of ram and sssssssssssssssstutters like a pre teen on a first date. :D

i`m not mentioning the massive mountain of bugs in every aspect, from plot killers to stupid stuff a 12 yr old b-tester would have seen.
and i`m in the toilet every 10 minutes getting rid of all the teas i can make while sectors load.

knew i shouldnt have given it a second,no third chance.
damn addictive damn game, should call the drugs squad and report ego for dealing this stuff.

Saying it doesn't make it so. Of all the explanations I can think of, the vast majority are technical, so it's over to tech support we go. If you post a DXDiag and manage to convince the folk there that it's not a technical issue then I'm sure they'll be kind enough to move this back.

Hi Rmaccc,

There's a few things you can try to see if they reduce stuttering.

-Reduce your texture settings to medium.
-If you are using Vista, use a ReadyBoost device.
-Go to your x3/mov/ directory and rename the 00002.dat file to something else.

already turned everything down to minimum settings.
ran it on a completely clean fresh install pc.

runs smooth as silk maxed out at the start, then a few hours later....
grinding to a halt.

its the game.

its not my rigs, not the weather, not even the full moon or the little man who lives down by the river.

gave it to my nephew who has one of those £5000 rigs called something like the "ultimate gamer".
had it for a few hours and even he is seeing the stutter starting.

no worrys though, hubby just took over my game rig to play his game.

That file contains the billboard movies. Whenever the billboard movie changes it pulls it from this file. This causes stuttering for some people; renaming it prevents the billboards from starting in the first place.

Awsome ill give that a shot.
Think im clutching at straws now my pc just aint up to gaming anymore.
Im getting about 40-50 fps in clear sectors but add some rocks and a big ass planet and it drops to 10-20 fps.
Only added extra gig of ram today and thats helped a great deal (was only getting 20-30 fps before upgrade)

//Edit
Forgot to say..
Im running at low setts with everything off. Will ACQ on help or hinder me?

Ok sorry if im hijacking the thread but for anyone with similar specs to me ACQ on has no significant effect for me (good or bad)

The Dat file rename did help for obvious reasons.

Ill upgrade one of these days prolly when the kids leave home :D

Possibly, but it souds like the progressive slowdown some people have been experiencing.

May I ask what texture quality setting you used for X3TC?

I use Medium. Almost no lag at all and no stuttering.
I have AMD Athlon 64x2 5000+, 3gb RAM, crappy HD2400. Running it Fullscren 1240x1024, 4xAA & 16xATF or that. Also Ship color variations and extra light source thingys.
