Need help with adding new ships (CheckerTwo Patch15)

Hi, I am trying to add a new ship to m game and have run into some problems. I have downloaded X2 Editor as well as X2 Modmanager. I have made an addition to tships.txt by copy and pasting an existing ship. I then packed that one file into a dat/cat combo then loaded it as a mod. Next I went to the in game script editor and tried to use create_ship to spawn it (is this the usual way people spawn custom ships?) My addition doesn't appear in the list of ships. After some more research I gathered changing tships is only half the work, I need to change x2story.obj as well. This is where I am stuck at the moment. I have downloaded patch15 and tried to follow its instruction. When I ran the program and tried to open x2story.obj I got an error message saying

Anyone has any ideas? My X2 is the UK version patched up to version 1.5.

PS Forum search doesn't seem to be working for me... It's not giving me any results for almost everything I typed.

This program doesn't work on X2 1.5. It was made for X2 1.4.

You can try to use one of the unused slots in TShips-file (like SS_SH_A_M3). For best results, take care to use an unused slot with the same ship class than the one you add.
