S video connection?

Post by Scarecrow »

What does it do?

Will it allow me to play on a 32" tv? Does it need to be run thru some thing else?

Just burnt up my GF2MX400 and a friend is letting me borrow his GF4MX420. It has the S-video out.

If the S-video doesn't do that, what will?

S-Video is used to connect to a television or VCR that has an S-Video input. You don't need anything except the correct type of connecting cable. I don't know about your card, but mine only allows a resolution of 640x480 when connected to a TV. Some cards probably allow higher resolution. Yours might. You need to check the documentation to find out.
The new PC I just built for myself:
i5-13600k, 32GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3060 12GB
It'll do until I can upgrade the graphics card.

Thanks, Bel

I was wondering about that. I was watching Leo LaPorte on ZDTV (quite some time ago) and some guy called in about the huge plasma screen he bought just for gaming and had this little bitty window to play in. :)

He was pissed!

Ever play around with any of the black boxes that are supposed to give full screen resolutions for presentations and the like?

No, I haven't. Though, my DVD player has a pretty cool function. It has zoom features. I can zoom in and out when watching a movie. It's pretty awesome.

G'day I use S-Video to link my computer tower to the TV Set. I think the resolution shown on the TV is set by the TV itself, and the video card will work within those limits. I can get 800x600 on ours, but I find that 640x480 has clearer/crisper text.

There is one thing which confuses me a little and it's to do with the TV.. I get these purple spots that slowly appear if I have my PC connected for a long period of time. Sometimes I get them, sometimes I don't. I don't know what those are or why it happens.

You're not drinking whisky at the time, are you? :-)

Nope, I don't drink anything of that sort. Might be the refresh rate of the TV? I don't know why these colored patches appear with the PC hookup. Normal TV/DVD is fine.
