Suggestion for X2

I think to go along with the realism of a living universe, there should be pilots you can hire in the game. It gets rather drab commanding your drone ships around. The Xenon were drone ships and look what happened there.

Being able to hire pilots which have their own trading/combat ratings that effect how they perform would be very interesting. For example, a pilot with high trading skills and low combat would not be a wise choice in a fighter. Lets say they get wages on a weeky basis debited out of your factory acc they work for.

That's sort of expanding on the FFE style yes? But instead of crew for your ship, this is individual trading and fighting pilets. Yes good idea. But would you jusst be hiring the pilet? Or the ship as well. But yes it is a good idea.

There's an inherent flaw in this:
machine --> you buy it once, make it work, and occasionally pay for maintenance
man --> you hire him, and you have to keep paying him as long as you employ him

See where this is going? Having lots of ships would be extremely hard, as their pilots' wages would suck all your profits.
I poposed something like this in the past: ships, once bought, are flown by the onboard computer. Hiring a pilot would drastically improve the ship's performances (well, realistically: adding a pilot wouldn't, say, change the ship's max speed); in this way you could still have armies of ships, but the more pilots you could hire, the more advantage you'd have in a fight.

The wages for a pilot depend on his skills. Only the best pilots would demand a high salary that could cut in on your profits.

Another idea for a wage system is for traders, they are paid by the load and/or distance and for fighters, they are paid by the kill.

You hire some fighters to guard you and when you have finnished let them go, The same as you do when you get to guard someone els and so on

:gruebel::gruebel:I don't see how there would be much difference..they would both, the ai or pilot would be controlled by YOUR computer anyway....so...unless they added tons of code so that the "human"" pilot can actually fight well...if they did that then it would delay the games release date.... :shock:

What would be really great is if u could capture stations the way u can capture ships...

& also hire managers for your stations...

& lease a trading station off of a race..... :?:

the idea for being able to capture stations is good...but why would you want to hire managers :!: :?: ....it would need a lot of scrip in order to make them intereesting-which im sure is what you had in mind...
