Ok, So far im in my space suit, in Brennans triumph, All mines exploded but i'm still alive, It says to scan the jump gate.. so what do I do? Do I need to press a button to scan it or what?

No, you just need to get close to the two objects on the gate. One of them is the right one, and it seems to be random, so if the first one doesn't work, go over to second one (you'll know by the appropriate cut-scene that it's the right one). You need to be quite close to those things in order to scan them (in your spacesuit, of course).
