X2: The Threat in GNU/Linux and mods

I'm having some troubles using the mods in the GNU/Linux version (it's all fancy and updated to the latest version). While the scripts work without any problems, whenever I choose some mod that makes bigger changes to the game (like Firelance or Deadly Ships & Stations), the game crashes after I start a new game in a custom universe. I'd also like to mention that I had to use "the harder" way for installing these mods (rename the *.cat *.dat files to 05.cat and 05.dat), since I don't see the "Select mod" button on the launch screen. If anyone out there managed to get any of those two mods running on GNU/Linux, please let me know how ;)

P.S.
Btw, the Deadly Ships & Stations Ships Only version works without a problem when I just load the existing game :/ I also had the same kind of problem with several other mods.

I wasn't quite sure if this was for the technical support forum, since the GNU/Linux version of the game is (supposedly) supported by LGP. I'm more interested in some user helping me ;)

I think I managed to localize (to some point) as where the errors occur. It seems that they occur during the execution of various scripts that come with the mods during the startup. The mods with only cat/dat files work flawlessly, it seems (mods do not crash the game if I remove all of the scripts, but it makes most of the mods useless). So, is there any way to follow what commands/scripts are being fed to the internal script engine and in what order? If yes, how? Also, I'd like to ask someone who is more familiar in the scripting language itself to help me debug these scripts. Thanks in advance for any help whatsoever (I'm mostly interested Deadly Ships & Stations mod, but some other mod will do as well - preferably the one with as little scripts as possible for start). Thanks in advance (as always) :D
