Xai Advanced AI and Marks Wing Patrol scripts.

Post by Sever101 »

I've been having fun with these two scripts and am impressed at the possibilities that are presented when both are running. They complement each other nicely. Thanks Carl for pointing me in the direction of these two.

I have about twenty novas and some barracudas at various stages of getting their feet wet in hotter sectors. From watching them in action from a distance, i can see that they're much smarter than the norm. They actually use the missiles that i load 'em up with (as opposed to not using them in the unscripted AI) and take more "pot shots" at their targets. There are a few things that i haven't tried yet and i have a few general questions about the scripts.

1. I didn't install the extra files for the enemy AI, however the enemies are noticeably more evasive in their flying style and also shoot missiles like they're going out of fassion. (They also drop three to four missiles each time i kill one.) Does the Xai AI improve enemy skill levels without the extra files installed? Or do the enemy ships naturally get better after i level up in combat rank? Or have i installed them without knowing?

2. I haven't tried the wing missile attack feature yet (looking forward to it!) but i'm wondering if the extra smarts of the Xai AI script is extended to this feature. If i load my novas up for general use (all missile types) will they use the appropriate missile for the job when i order them to attack? Or will they use ALL missiles on board before swapping to guns? (perhaps shooting down their own hornets with lighter, faster missiles fired from behind.) Or do i have to load them with only the missile type required for the target?

3. I've been trying to work out an effective loadout ratio of hornets, silkworms, dragonflies, wasps, mosquitos, ammo and energy cells (for (the fusion injecter) but it's taking a long time. Has anyone who's more experienced with these scripts already worked out a good ratio that the AI generally follows? I want to have them run out of all ammo types at roughly the same time to make rearming easier and less guesswork invovled in stocking my M1's ordinance transports.

4. When used with the Telcat signed script (specifically the launch and land commands), are the wingman features of Mark's wing script overuled. Ie, can i assign wingmen to my wing leaders and have them retain that status after using the Telcat commands to instantly launch or land the fighters?

5. Can't remember it at the moment. I'll post back.

I thought Mark's fight command script(2.1) conflicted with egosoft's signed patrol script. Is that cool?

I've been using the signed patrol script for a while and haven't noticed any conflicts. The xai ai ships with mark's wingman command on are still following the patrol route i set weeks ago with the signed script. I haven't been watching them especially though.

I've remembered number 5. With the Xai AI, when the pilots are skilled enough, they're supposed to be able to target and destroy incoming missiles on the fly. In the case of my novas, i have a military dude (gunnery crews signed script) in the turret with a mass driver (switched to missile defence when not on action stations) as well as the mosquito missile defence (signed script) command running. Between these two features, my ships are already virtually immune to all but point blank missile fire. What i want to know is does the Xai AI script take this into account? Will my novas still drop their target (needlessly) to destroy missiles?

I had to hunt around for it. The links in the community script thread are out of date or non-existant. My memory for stuff like this sucks, but IIRC, i got them from the Xai homepage itself. I'll have a look and post back.

Ed: Mark's Wing Commands here and Xai Advanced AI...

...Totaly eludes me at the moment. I can't find the link in my history folder, and can't find the download on the Xai site. But maybe i'm not looking hard enough..

HERE I COME TO SAVE THE DAAAAAY!

There's a lot of scripts here right now that isn't available through the main site I think. I can't be bothered to look but I'm pretty sure they are there.

x2 source database

I hope they don't shut this down or restrict outside access.
