I hope there will be a playable demo.
With a game as broad as X2 it will be tough to get it into a demo - it would not be possible to encompass all the trading etc. It would be cool to set the demo up with a player owning a couple of factories already, and then have some pirates or Khaak ships attack them. Either that or a simple mission.

Tough one to do a demo on I agree, but XT had a playable demo (it is still available as a download from egosoft), so i expect we'll see something!The_Abyss wrote:I hope there will be a playable demo.

The X_BTF demo is the thing that got me hooked.
These days though, demos come out 2 months AFTER the game release.
Demos used to be good advertisements for games, but these days people play the demo and realise the game is rubbish so don't buy the full game. Publishers now realise this so ensure the late delivery of the demo.
Remember in the good old days when a magazine would review a game, then it would be released a week later? Again, it is common practice to reveiw games that have been on sale for a couple of weeks.
PC Zone reviewed Lord of the RIngs game and gave it 50-something% and said it was crap. It has been on sale for a long time though, and no doubt many people have bought it.
I am sure that X2 will not be crap, but I suspect the demo wil come out after the game anyway.
