Problem getting traders tale and other stories.

Post by Aragon Speed »

Got a problem with the fan fiction page. I had the traders tales series, but my pc had an fit recently, and one reinstall later I am trying to get them back. Unfortunately when I click on the link from this forum, and taken to a site with listings of a few stories, the left hand menu displays ok, but the right hand pane only shows errors. (listed below).

Warning: main(http://x-universe.kiwi.nu/includes/.inc) [function.main]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed! HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found in /home/andreas/public_html/x-universe/page.php on line 19

Has anybody got another link where I can get all 4 stories back? I have found one from the guy who wrote these, but it only has the first two listed as complete, and the third still as work in progress. Also they are still in separate chapter form and not in the completed .pdf format that I had them in.

P.S. All of the links for every story on this page have the same problem. I have checked on another PC in case mine was having a fit, but same problem.

It seems that the error is with the webpage itself. The page is run by user KiwiNZ, you could PM him.

Other method is (if you know the name of the file) to search for it on the google...

Hi guys, sorry for that. It looks like my domain hosting service has at long last secured PHP and switched off globals, which then broke things a bit. As always, this tends to happen when one is on holidays...

All fixed now and you shouldn't have any problems downloading the files.

Hi there, just a humble request, if possible could the books be downloaded using an alternative format?
I read them in my pda, problem is that pdf is a really bad format for ths, and dunno why, but when you try to covert them from pdf to another format they are missing parts from the text, I tried it using Acrobat 7, 2 appz from Abby and a few others, even tried with Adobe Reader using the text selection tool. Looks like parts of the text are regarded as an image or something simikar, so when you convert them they don't appear.

Thanks

A while back I actually looked at converting them but failed to find any other format to PDF that is supported across the board.

Which formats can you usually read without problems?

@KiwiNZ

I have a little question. In Traders Tale 4 (in the last third), there are a quite a few passages that are twice or three times there.

I think in the others are also one or two passages but I cant remember where :? .

If you would be so kind to update/correct those, because I dont know how to update/create a pdf file.

Don't worry, I would have waited but wasn't sure if I had done it right  . And thanks to both of you.

There are some glitches in the Rogue series as well, especially in Rogues revenge, but that was I think due to a very small rewrite by Steve and not down to the pdf format.

In relation to either bits missing etc, I have found that there are bits missing when downloaded to a pda.

The only solution I think is viable, is to copy from the pdf format and paste into word format and syncronize with the appropiate word type program on the pda.

@ morgothporter.... your welcome!
