freedom in the X Universe

I was finally able to start getting into X-Tension when my PC died. One thing that always catches my interest in a PC game is when the player is granted tremendous freedom. Since my PC is gone for now and I can't play, I was wondering about other player experiences.

Also, are there things in the X Universe you feel like you can't do now but would want to?

Again, I was just curious... passing the time until I can put together a new PC and play X2 on it.

knowing that my orca's are full of fighters, im talking 1000's...they are stocked up with every resource in the universe, they are full of TS's...and it protects MY sector.

BTW...if u have enough money.....buy a shit load of Boron TS transporters....max the cargo to 3000, and put the resources you buy into them, dock them at your orca, you now have loads of resources for the price of one TS

Since you don't have a pc I can speculate on how you are posting. Perhaps you are pychic and sent this message just before it died. Maybe you are running now on a HAL 10000 that can send current back in time. Well anyway, I'm in the same boat and can't get X-T to run since upgrading to XP.

actually, I have an Apple G4 that I use for work stuff that has been my fill in system until I get my PC repaired. I had a 1.2 gig Athlon and one day discovered that my CPU fan had stopped spinning (a burning odor led me to that discovery). Of course the chip was shot, the fan is actually fine but the power connector from the motherboard to the fan somehow stopped working. Oh well. My mac is good for the work I do on it, lousy for playing games such as X Tension.

Sorry to hear that you can't get X to run since upgrading to Windows XP. That's strange, I ran X just fine under XP home. Have you thrown the question out to the rest of the board with your system specs to see if they can offer some advice?

I'm hoping that X2 expands what players can fly, do, sell, own... etc. How tough is it to be a bonafide pirate in the X universe? Can you get your own pirate base?

I have no problem running XT on win XP. Unfourtuently, in their infinite wisdom, the microsoft drivers for my sidewinder presicion pro 2 do not work on XP, and MS no longer support it. So I can't map the 16 buttons or the 8-way hat or throttle to XT controls. Great.

I could understnad this behaiour if MS had released a new stick for XP machines, but they haven't. Just the new sidewinder which has half the buttons.

I know other people have managed to get the mapping to work. Not me.

Might try decompiling the code and get hacking on the drivers. Just don't have the time (especially if as i do that stuff at work all day)

My PC is working, but in storage as I move house on monday, so I know how you feel. I really wanna play XT and Battlefield 1942 online right now...
