is there a utility i need in order to install certain scripts or mods? i saw X2Patch 09 utility listed in TBullets and TRockets mod (or scripts, not sure which) and also saw the following instrucions in the readme, which confused me, since w.in the rar file there are only two .txt files:
"
Using X2Patch 09 utility, unpack all 3 .DAT files in your X2 directory. After you unpack the three .dat files There will be 3 new directories labeled Xdata-1, Xdata-02, and Xdata-03.
Now rename the three .cat and .dat files, that way The game will not recognize these files, and you can always rename these back just in case.
Now, copy the contents of the three Xdata-01,2,3 directories into you X2 game directory. When prompted to overwrite files, say 'yes'.
Now, in your 'TYPES' directory, rename TBullets.pck to anything that will help you remember this file is the ORIGINAL game file.
Copy the included TBullets.txt into your 'types' folder, and enjoy!"
if i need a certain app in order to install these various additions to x2, can someone please link it here, since i didn't see a link to anything named x2patch 09 utility in the above stickies
thanks

Re: X2Patch 09 utility?
The program you need is called Stone D's X2 Patcher. Couldn't find a link to it though - long time since I've played X2. I have a copy of it at home on my computer. If you can't find it let me know in a pm and I'll e-mail it to you.pepperg wrote:is there a utility i need in order to install certain scripts or mods? i saw X2Patch 09 utility listed in TBullets and TRockets mod (or scripts, not sure which) and also saw the following instrucions in the readme, which confused me, since w.in the rar file there are only two .txt files:

Otherwise you could try this post in the stickies:
http://forum2.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=48589
Which does contain the details you are looking for on unpacking your files. There is also another program called Xtool that was included in the X2 modding pack that you can use to unpack your files but to be honest it's not as user friendly as Stone D's X2 Patcher.
Hope that helps.
