Just getting started with this game and was wondering about a couple things...
1. Driving across the expanses of space seem to take a really, really long time... Is there any way to speed up my ship? Like hitting afterburners or speeding up the engine? I saw somethign about hitting Tab to go faster but this doenst take me any faster than hitting X until my speed is maxed out.
I think my max speed is around 167.
2. Where do i find my mission objectives. I searched and searched and can not seem to find this.
Thanks so much for any assisstance on these questions.

There are 4 basic ways of going faster:
- Upgrade the engines on your ship at any trading dock or equipment dock.
- Get a faster ship (and combine with 1 above), you can get up to about 500m/s
- Buy a Singularity Engine Time Accelerator (SETA), again from Trade or Equipment docks. This doesn't actually make you faster, but it does compress time so that it appears to be going up to ten times faster.
- Buy a jumpdrive, you can then jump to any gate you've found, assuming you have enough energy in your cargo hold.

More Begginer Questions!
Thanks for reading and truly appericiate any help as i am totally lost!
Soo im really finding it hard to figure out what is the best thing to do to get my empire rolling...
I have just started Quick Start and have a ship with some instrutions to go through some gates... Which i cant find, or think i have followed correctly and ended up GOD knows where at the most ridiculusly slow speed... to do something which i am not sure i am prepared to do yet.
What in your professional opinions would you do first? Personally i would like to earn some money and make a factory or two and concour some systems along with destroing some baddies.
P.S - i have attempted to read the pdf and read about 15-20 forum threads. This is offering lots of answers but not specifically on how to get over this learning cliff, as i am on day 2 of X3.
Thank you for your help!

Probably the best thing to do is to ignore the story line at moment until you got you self alittle more practice with the game and a better ship.
To start with learn to trade by visiting some of the factories in sector and determine what resources the need. ( a good start would be meat steak cahoonas or energy cells). Look for a place that is selling them cheap and then search for a factory that will by them for alot more. As you get more and more money you may then want to buy a bigger ship such transporter. A mercury is a pretty good ship. continue along this route until you can afford a fighter like the nova M3 with a few decent guns Ahepts on it. Keep the transport and buy MK trading software for it. You can then command it to become a sector trader and it will continue to trade in a sector of your chosing earning you credits whilst you head of to start practising your fighting ability.
Check your trader from time to time to see what level he has obtained. When he reaches level 8 set him as a universal trader and the amount of credits he bring in will increase ten fold. Soon you will be able to afford you first factory.
Try a wheat farm in home of light or put in the beginings of a space feul complex in elonars fortune ( brings me in a couple of million every game hour).
Universal Traders or UT as they are refered to in the forum can rake in heaps for you so every so often buy another transport and train it up. Whilst they make the money you can concentrate on building your buisness empire.
Hope this helps

As a noob myself I can say that Thrappy gives good advice. The trade ships are the best money makers to start with. I started the one that gave me a Buster and a Mercury to start with. After exploring a bit and doing the first couple of storyline missions I went back to my Mercury and started trading stuff (Ecels, ore, silicone, and Meatstakes to start) to make enough money sell the Buster and buy a Nova.
Train your Trade Ship (TS) in Emperer’s Edge and about the time you can send it off to do Universe Trading (UT) you can buy another.
I found this to be a good place to start.

Everyone plays a bit differently and you will soon find your own preference but without the guides to get you started it can be overwhelming.
