animated (not so useable) X-sig...

Post by Merroc »

Of course i cant have it in my sig:
7. Signatures should total no larger than 600 pixels wide and 150 pixels high, including all images and text. This means you can have up to 8 lines of text maximum or an image up to 150 pixels high, but not both. Avatars are limited to 80 x 80 pixels. The total combined size for both signature and avatar should not exceed 50kb.
Of course i cant post it here directly:
8. Images posted should not exceed 640 x 480 and 100kb in size
But i have to show it...

http://www.xs4all.nl/~jeckman1/X3/Sigs/ ... mation.gif (its 'only' 236kb)... It was going to be my new sig, but then i figured it was much cooler as animation. But that made it too big, so now i cant use it as my sig (obviously).

surely you must be able to compress that to a reasonable filesize? use less frames and use variable display time per frame? not sure I'm not exactly an expert on animated gifs :-(

Nice Merroc. Very Nice. Though as the rules say, too big.
A new rig is in my hands now if only there was time...

It could be worse (not the sig, the file size :P ). I had a video of one of my destroyers firing at some khaak. I made it into a gif and cut it down, and it was still 7mb. It's only 7 secs long.

Cut out more frames using a video editing program, forget theres 24 per second, at a highish quality videos can go thru the roof.

Just the other day I made a 761mb video go down to 6mb thru compression + removing unneeded frames.
"There must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the universe can be said to be zero, From this it follows that the population of the universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the product of a deranged imagination" - Douglas Adams
