Your ship destroyed in sector.
Since installing 1.4, I've had a big incidence of messages in the log that look like this ....
Your Falcon weedseller destroyed in Split Fire.
No reason given.
It wasnt docked at a station. In this case, it was heading home after being told to dock at homebase.
There were no enemies in the sector.
This was oos to me, so not a colision problem.
Its like the god-engine just decided to remove my ship on a random whim.
The problem exisited in 1.3, but seems to be far worse in 1.4.
A script written to replace any ship destroyed for no reason, is not replacing the ship, so there must be a reason even if its not shown in the log.
The UT on the other hand is so verbose about what is happening to it. You not only get the enemy ship type but the id of the ship as well.
All ship destruction messages should be as verbose as the UT messages now are.
My fleet is gounded until this is worked out.

There is usually a reason. You get the 'ship destroyed in sector Xyz' message when it is overwhelmed before it can send the 'your ship is under attack...' message. Often it is a Xenon patrol which has blown your ship away.apricotslice wrote:Ships vanish for no reason. All you get is a log entry with no reason.
I have ~50 UTs and got this quite a lot. Sometimes I had a save from just before the loss, and almost always a Xenon patrol was in the sector or in an adjacent one. Planting a Titan on the gates to the Xenon sectors drastically reduced the number of losses.

A few weeks ago, I had 4 fighters protecting a UT in X formation (not sure if the formation was working because the fighters were constantly correcting their course). I hadn't tried it before, so decided to follow and watch to see if there would be any problems. While the UT flew through Ore Belt I watched as one by one the fighters collided with asteroids. Needless to say, by the time the UT reached the gate at the other end, all the fighters were destroyed.
I haven't set up any fighters to protect ships since

The 1.4 patch should help.aabdualim wrote:I have had the same issue. Sometimes my Station kills my ship. I get msg saying "Your TP ship was destroyed by Solar power plant" That was the ships home base also. I dont get it. Woud Nav software have an affect on it?
Then the message should contain that. Not getting off a voice message should make no difference to the log entry of destruction. If it does, its a bug and should be fixed. There should not be any point where the AI does not know who is fireing at whom. As such, the log reports should show exactly who took out your ship.graham_hawkins wrote: Sometimes I had a save from just before the loss, and almost always a Xenon patrol was in the sector or in an adjacent one.
In any case, this is still an assumption on your part that it was xenon, and for the moment, its the best theory, but I'm not convinced.

Hi Fchopin
No, I'm not using any mods or scripts. Looking at the way my fighters were correcting course, it seemed like a pathfinding problem around built-up areas (small roids etc.)
