Is modding or "adjusting" cheating?

I love this game. X2 is the game I have been waiting for since the late 80s. I just think that there are some "adjustments" that were needed.

For every adjustment I made, I changed the cost or energy consumption to compensate for my illicit deals.

For example:

I didnt like the slow moving Argon TS, so I adjusted the speed to 300, but made it cost more and took some cargo room away.

I wanted the GHEPT to fire faster, but I made it eat alot more energy.

My buddy who got me into this game accused me of cheating. I said I wasnt cheating, cuz if I changed one thing in my favor I changed another setting against me.

Its not like I had the Centaur with 12 super powered weapons that with 4 shots could take out a Xenon J. Ok I did, but then I changed it back... :roll: I just wanted to see what did what and if I did it right...

The only person who knows if they are cheating in a single player game is the player.

Your post sounds like a re-balance to me, not a cheat.

Only fools think changing a games code is automatically cheating. :roll:

Deck, the beauty of X2's Singplayer is you can make the universe anything you want.
Want one of the races to have unriveled military supremecy by superior firepower? give it to em. Want tships to be insanely fast? make it that way.

The game is YOURS, to adjust and balance as YOU see fit, as its YOU that plays in that created world.

Since its YOUR game world, unless you adjust something to circumvent a restriction YOU placed on YOURSELF, you CANT be cheating by rebalancing the ships/station/universe.

i think what you did isnt really cheating i gues cheating is more like giving yourself money or ships without working for them but what you did is more like buying more engine tuning and doing what egosoft should have done and you made the weapons acutually powerfull enough im kinda hoping you might help me get a good program to do exactly what you did so if you can tell me how to do so please tell me in this post thanks
