Another newbie question.

I don't know if this is in the manual or not but since I can not read my manual (it's in german), here goes.

What does it mean when my rating with a species has an [L] at the end?

It means you have a (L)icence (to kill enemies) from them. In other words, when you buy the police licence the [L] shows in your menu.

Hi,

It emans you have purchased a police license and so get paid a little bounty when you kill pirates in their sectors.

You can lose this if you attack that race's ships.

Hi fellow newbie :D

Have you set up many factories yet?
What was your first factory, mine was an Ore mine.

Did anyone notice that there is a severe shortage of Delaxian Wheat in the X-tension universe?

Guess what kind of factory's I am going to be building for a while

Quick replies! Thanks guys!

Oh, no factories yet. I'm only up to a couple of million credits or so. I'm still working on my capturing technique, and getting paranid and split to allow me to dock at their bases. I'm not sure what factories I'll set up first.

That capturing technique is still a little difficult, but I haven't tried it a lot yet. The only ship I captured so far is a Goner Ship and I used a Boron Octopuss for that.
Oh, here is a good tip. When the pilot bails out and you want to sell him/her as a slave to the pirates, do not forget to install a life support system in your ship. I did and the pilot died

I am more in the trade bussines myself. I have the title Mogul. (I think that's how you spell it)

Slaves dont really earn you a lot of money and can only be sold at a pirate base so unless you are a die hard i wouldnt bother with the hassle as you earn plenty buy selling the ships they were piloting.

What would be good is being able to return them to their home pirate base for an appropriate fee (of course ;) ). That they wouldn't be enslaved but able to continue doing piraty things and maybe even hold a grudge against you

There is one other thing with the Licenses that you buy from the various races. It's inevitable that you are going to lose a license occasionally. It doesn't take much. Hit a race's ship or factory with a stray shot and the license is gone. You don't get notified when this occurs, but there is an entry in the pilot log.

It's happened to me more times than I care to mention. There's nothing for it but to go back to one of that race's trading stations and buy another license.
The new PC I just built for myself:
i5-13600k, 32GB DDR5 RAM, RTX 3060 12GB
It'll do until I can upgrade the graphics card.

Pirate Astronauts....

...must die! I can't be bothered with some silly cargo life support system (MUHAHAHAH!). Seriously though, I usually hunt pirates in Split or Paranid sectors, and every kill gets me a little bit more faction with them. At least now I can trade with everyone.

the best way to become friend with a race is to build factories in their systems that takes alot of resources (like HEPT forges). i have three hornet missile factories in paranid prime and my rating goes up 5% in half an hour. and i i'm not even selling the hornets (they goes to my "Special Operations Command" ship, an argon TL  )
