How do i use scripts
Hi guys, I have downloaded a script to my desktop from the forum. Its the one that uses the satnavs as trader beacons to stop your Ut's from entering sectors without trading beacons and getting themselves killed by kahk or pirates. The only problem is I know naff all about how to use or install scripts, so if theres anyone out there can tell me how to do it i would be very gratefull, Look forward to hearing from someone.

Very simple really mate:
Copy the .xml file (and any other files that came with it) into the X2 directory. If you only got .xml files, then put them all into the "script" folder, whereas, if you got several folders with different parts, put them into the main directory, folder routes in tact. Also, (not applicable if there are several .xml files) remember the name of the .xml file, you'll need it later.
Now enter the game.
Once you've loaded your savegame, type in (case sensitive) "Thereshallbewings" to enable scripting.
Now go into the control console (where you can give ships commands etc.). Press 's' to enter the script editor. Select 'Script Editor', and a loooong list of scripts should come up.
You remember the name of the .xml? Scroll through the list and find it.
Press r. It should give the options of "null" or "select a station/ship". Select null. Press return to accept the next screen that comes up. It will then either be done, or will ask for another choice between null and something else. At this point.... I would suggest "null", unless the other option seems more applicable. If it screws up, just reload the savegame and try again with the other option
It'll work in the end
Hope that makes sense

So this topic belongs to the X3 script and modding forum, not X2. Don't double post, a mod will probably move it very soon (if not PM a moderator like Burianek or LV)
Anyway, i can't help with the default installation directory as i don't have X3 in my computer, but it should be something like
"c:\program files\x3 reunion" or "c:\program files\egosoft\x3 reunion"
text.xml files will need to go in the "scripts" subfolder.
number.xml files will need to go in the "T" subfolder.
(usually packed scripts will extract themself in the correct subfolder)
If you're playing X3, the "Thereshallbewings" trick must not be typed in space, you'll have to rename your pilot with this name. When done correctly, the pilot name should reset to the default one and the game should pause 1 second or 2.
Save and Reload to enable all the scripts (some won't need to save and reload, but it's still better to do it).
btw, check the stickied topics on the X3 script & modding board. It'll be useful
