OK Apoc', Here's some feedback from a complete Noob to X. ... Your guide, although full of useful information, only adds to the level of frustration for those of us with no history in this Universe. For example, lets take a look at just the first two paragraphs, of your guide. You tell us where to go, but not how to get there. You tell us to switch from Buster to Mercury (assuming started game on easy) and to transfer the trading system extension and locators. But you leave out the part Noobs need, WHAT is this stuff, WHERE is it, HOW do I transfer it along with myself.
This is but a small example, but I hope I've made my point. Noobs do appreciate all the work that you've done, youve put out an informative guideline, but those of us that are X-challanged (is that PC?), need more help! The User Manual is pathetic, for a third iteration of a series, that is unacceptable. If not for the generosity of the online community here, this game would be unplayable for Noobs.

Unfortunatly the locations I posted are to far apart e.g. Siezwell and Argon prime for me to go through an Exact route. So I posted a map. I said to have the blue and green area explored. You realise you have to go through spacial gates yes?

Also the buyer's locator's etc... I am editing the guide accordingly!
I will just run through and make sure there's abit more explenation. Bare with me on this!

The TL's are:

Elephants - Split (family pride)
Mammoth - Argon (argon prime, red light or light of heart)
Orca - Boron (Kingdom End or Lucky planets)
Albatross - Teledi (Seizwell)
Hercules - Parinid (Parinid Prime or Trinity Sanctom)

There's more than this but that should be quite enough. There big Capital ships so there easy to spot.

My Guide has been updated (v1.3) with several new sections including, a capping guide, station size, list of Equipment and a key.

V1.3?

Am I missing the infamous v1.3 patch or are you teasing us all with your guides' version number?

In your guide I would like you to expand on the different sizes of stations. I'm guessing there's a standard size, an M (medium I presume) and an L (large I guess) variant. What do these mean exactly? For instance, does the M size hold twice the product? Produce twice as fast? That kind of thing.

While I'm familiar with X2, these different size stations are new to X3 and I've never seen them defined before. TIA.

Oh, BTW, please consider spell and grammar checking your guide. The first time I read through it I almost quit because of the many mistakes. Let me point out a few:

"credits in the bank as a pose to the 100,000 you started off with" should be "credits in the bank as opposed to the 100,000 you started with"

"trade silicon, where as you obviously you can’t" should be "trade silicon, whereas you obviously can’t"

"you now have the option to by a station" should be "you now have the option to buy a station"

"the command menu of you selected vessel" should be "the command menu of your selected vessel"

"trading a side, there’s got to be an alternative" should be "trading aside, there’s got to be an alternative"

"There’s the hands on, approach where you go all out" should be "There’s the hands on approach, where you go all out"

"but never the less just watch out for the target to turn blue just encase" should be "but nevertheless just watch out for the target to turn blue just in case"

"However if you’re you’ve just started and have little money your not going to be" should be "However if you've just started and have little money you're not going to be"

"getting down the shields as a pose to draining them" should be "getting down the shields as opposed to draining them"

"If your in a Buster" should be "If you're in a Buster"

"you will do to much damage to the hull" should be "you will do too much damage to the hull"

I'll stop now, but you get the idea. Deity knows, I'm not perfect either, but the shear number of errors is off-putting.

I do apologise but half of those mistakes are nothing to do with me but because Microsft word won't recognise that England spells things differently to the Americans. And it auto matically puts in spaces but when I change it to UK, guess what? It still puts in spaces. Probably because it's so old. The by instead of buy is just a simple typing error as I'm sure you realise, it's quite a long piece of work.

Will notify you when I've updated the guide. :)

Okay guy's, I really have made some changes and it's well worth taking a look at them. I've even added a contents so you can actually find what the bloody hell your looking for in all of that. I would recommend that even exsperianced players take a look at the energy consumption and so forth as it's intirely new with X3.

Now your probably wondering why I divided by 1.9 instead of 2.0, but the answer is quite simply. The SPP’s cycle time is not quite 2 minutes but only 59 seconds. And those extra 2 seconds gives us extra 46 energy cells, which is quite important. So there’s the figures, now we have to use them. So if a standard factory (size M) uses 30 energy cells per minute, each SPP can support:
You can't just make up numbers like 1.9. That's not how math works. :p

SPP production math results in many decimal places, so use a calculator and save all digits between steps:

M = 552 energy cells every 1:58, or ~4.678 energy cells per second. ~280.68 cells per minute
L = 1380 energy cells every 1:58, or ~11.695 energy cells per second. ~701.69 energy cells per minute
XL = 2760 energy cells every 1:58 , or ~23.390 energy cells per second. ~1403.39 energy cells per minute.

Relatively small differences, but they can mean the difference if you thought you could squeeze in one more M fact where you can't.

The errors klaatu pointed are all grammar errors, rather than spelling errors. MS Word's spell checker will not catch them at all; it has nothing to do with differences between American/UK spelling.

eg: "Your" vs "you're" is one of the most common errors ever made, I think. They're both valid words and a spell checker will not flag them, but they're not the same word, and they're not interchangable. "You're" literally means "you are", while "your" is posessive, referring to something that belongs to "you".
(The cousin error to "you're/your" is of course "they're/their" and is exactly the same error, only it's the plural form. :P)

eg: "as a pose to" are all valid words, but written like this they don't mean what you think they do. You've confused them for "as opposed to", because they sound similar.

Right, anyway... Enough with the grammar lesson. I just had to point that out. :D

No ingame tutorial?

Post by thorvall »

<< Info received! Thanx >>

So I start on the easy game setting as Jullian. I am given a mission to take some raw recruits through a few gates and if I run into any of the bad guys (Kha'ak?) I am to eliminate them, but the game system tells me nothing on how to do this, and your nice how to mentions nothing about this. I am so lost. Please help. I want to play this game.

My Guide is for making money and buillding your interstellar company, which is why there's no mission wlakthrough. You have to keep in mind that the plot is only a minor part of the game. Added I wouldn't recommend doing it until you have built up your assets and got a feel for the game.

To "eliminate them" you simply attack and destroy them nothing to complicated. Or is there somthing more specifc, would exspand on exactly what the problem is please :)

Thank you

Point the front of your ship at the bad guys ships (the bad guys are ships enclosed within the red squares, and press the K button until you have the * shape by your weapons loadout. (Near the bottom Left of the screen). Then when the red targeting reticle starts flashing blue and red press your fire button. (This can either be your left mouse button, (this is the large button on the left side of the mouse) or press the [Ctrl] button on the bottom left corner of your keyboard, or you can press the fire button on your joystick). For other control/key commands read the manual.
Also in case you are still confused
:thumb: that is left, that is down  is up  is right.

I hope this helps.

Thanx

i dont know if this has been said already but Boron Bogas also sells in Paranid space. if you place them in the sector below paranid prime then there are 21 stations needing Bogas as a secondary recourse in 2 sector jump distance! it's great profit :)
