The balance could be an issue but I'm not sure it's because it's going to take a long time for things to get running again. Considering we have shipyards in every faction full of wares they need to produce warships and there's probably a huge demand since they weren't being built before, implying that a lot of places may be lightly defended as well...

Things could be REALLY fun for anyone who's been coping with this bug for a while.

Captain = 9000 credits
No credit no captain no order.
Rather, it's not that NPCs don't have any money, it's that they don't need any for what they do. They effectively have infinite due to the GDP of all the planets they control.

Remember, you control a bit of space-based economy. The AI can do the same AND control planets, which is why they will never truly be eradicated.

Indeed. One should just be advised that without restarting a new game certain things could not be a reliable bug/balance report. For instance, if the bug made it so in your game the Xenons got gangbanged quick and there's an Argon fleet sieging their home stations/sector, then they might never be able to recover anyway because as soon as they produce a ship it gets blown up. So, long story short, coming back to the forums saying "1.32 still doesn't fix the Xenons!" could be a false statement/a misunderstanding. It might fix them perfectly fine in a new game, but if they are beyond saving in your current one that might not be changing anytime soon. Which also means the Argons would still hardly lose many ships on that frontline, and their economy would still stagnate for quite a while. Things like that.

1.32 is not even out for beta testing, as soon as it is I'll be checking it out.

Looking forward to some serious Xenon action. In my game their greatest opration was sending pair of N for scouting into Argon space. The horror and panic in Hativah knew no bounds :)

I started a new game for the 1.3 patch. Right now my galaxy has huge shortages of smartchips (35k needed) and engines. The only shipyards/wharfs that can build are ARG and TEL, all other shipyards/wharfs are backed up (hours...). I built a smartchip and engine production station to try and help, but its slow going.

Also the starting scenario 'entrepreneur' that gives you a station and 200k in the bank should definitely give you a different production module. Sun flowers are terrible and I have zero demand in my game. I had to deconstruct it and put something else. I will probably never pick that again and use download and install the mod that gives a bunch of different starting scenarios.

Nah the earth can't be flat or all the water would spill out! It's more of a bowl shape, everyone knows that!

Agree completely though conclusion based on little evidence and heaps of assumptions. I didn't really expect any different.

Also always fun to see people demanding Egosoft talk to each and everyone making a post... Since identifying and fixing bugs in complex pieces of software is a simple, so they have loads of time to post on forums and social media. The games been out for a week. One word : PATIENCE! (of course that words has died a quick death about 10 years ago ;) )
Save game editor XR and CAT/DAT Extractor
Keep in mind that it's still a work in progress although it's taking shape nicely.

If anyone is interested in a new save game editor for X4 and would like to contribute to the creation of one let me know. I do not have sufficient time to create it alone, but if there are enough people who want it and want to contribute we might be able to set something up.

If they are stocked up and have full inventory we might see an boom in xenon activity once they wake up from this hibernation cycle and start producing ships for real. (Same with the other factions). Might get interesting to see that happen, like a giant waking up

Funny to see the variance, in my galaxy the normal microchips are currently in short supply but some stations with silicon wafers producers seems to adapt to smooth out that shortage

Yeah, as hyped as OP made his post, other than finding something that the devs said "Huh, that's odd" it doesn't appear to have been the issue at all... shrug

Though, I wouldn't be surprised if a huge bug caused the Xenon economy to die later on again...

Dont expect too much, the xenon K and the I battleship cant fight their way out of a paper bag, turrets either dont function or they wander round in circles not firing at anything.

What happens if i kill all the xenon miners which deliver the Ore mineral to their shipyards they need to build new ships? No new Xenon ships or is there a fallback, e.g. spawn new material in xenon shipyards or new xenon ore prospector?

Can confirm playing 1.32 beta that shipyards are building again, and xenon are invading again!

Hi guys,

Is there a quick and easy way to know if my current save is heading for disaster? I see the screenshot showing more Xenon ships than I've ever seen wandering through any gate - but is that enough to know that the Xenon are "healthy", or is there a better way? I'm heading to check their sectors now - hopefully I bump into an army that hasn't been there so far. I haven't destroyed many of their ships myself - a couple of poorly-supported K's, maybe 10-20 N/M/P. I don't think the Argon have contributed much either - they and the other races do have giant swarms of combat ships in places though. They've probably mashed anything coming through gates, but I've only seen ARG and TEL construction vehicles (?!?) in Xenon sectors while there myself.

Is that already well on the road to ruin and best abandoned? I've played a fair bit, acquired and spent tens of millions, and only just hold of SETA annoyingly. I'd like to keep playing this save if possible, but don't want to miss out on Xenon fun if they're already crippled beyond repair at this point.

Thanks for any advice you can offer :)

daz, you could grab the CHEATS mod, that'll let you become ally with xenon and also jump your ship anywhere, and add like 100 setas. That way you can take a close look and figure out if your save game is ok or not, just back it up first. Then disable the cheats and reload your backed up save and play. That's probably the easiest way to find out.

You could simply fly to their sector and check if their wharf/shipyard isn't camped by enemy forces. If there's no enemy presence in their system they should rebuild easily.

Thanks for the replies guys :) It looks like I'm all good - I bumped into a battle group that finally came through with a K rather than abandoning it, and had quite a decent fight with them. They kept slowly pouring in smaller reinforcements too, so I think I'll leave the local feds to deal with them for now and crack on with the military base work. Clearly we'll be needing those soon!
