What was he's famous quote? "Blowing up 1 Xenon is a tragedy. The blowing up of million Xenons is a statistic."amtct wrote:Be carefull...Vitez wrote:I kinda like these medals. They bring out the dictator from me that is sleeping deep within me![]()
Top 100 FTW
One of key reasons for the introduction of the Personal Uplink is to make player statistics more accessible and to allow players to more easily compare their in-game achievements.jlehtone wrote:Practically everyone can have all medals, (except those who refuse to have any and those who want to "improve" their "swing").
So why a medal then if it doesnt denote achievement?Toastie wrote:One of key reasons for the introduction of the Personal Uplink is to make player statistics more accessible and to allow players to more easily compare their in-game achievements.jlehtone wrote:Practically everyone can have all medals, (except those who refuse to have any and those who want to "improve" their "swing").
The point of the medals underneath the forum avatar, while indicating general levels of achievement in the three games, actually serves to provide an indication that the player has uploaded stats and an easy link to the player's profile and statistics so you can see if their 'swing' is really that impressive.
Like I said, the medals indicate general achievement, while the uplink area and forum stats aim to give more detail. How the general achievement is displayed is clearly a topic of discussion here but please bear in mind that the more players' stats that are uploaded, the more representative becomes the sample by which the medals are awarded.pelador wrote:So why a medal then if it doesnt denote achievement?Toastie wrote:jlehtone wrote:Practically everyone can have all medals, (except those who refuse to have any and those who want to "improve" their "swing").

Really am not that bothered but if it doesnt indicate an impressive achievement in cases why use a medal or change the medal allocation to be based on reasonable samples for qualification?
Ah clever.Toastie wrote: Like I said, the medals indicate general achievement, while the uplink area and forum stats aim to give more detail. Or one per game (X3TC, X3R, X2). So you don't have to follow the link, eager to compare, only to find that the user has uploaded only the X2 stats while you have never had that game.vbruzual wrote:I would say that only one icon indicating that the user uploaded statistics would suffice for the purpose of promotion.
IE6 doesn't follow many of the internet standards, IE7 follows more of them generallyvbruzual wrote:[/snip] On the other hand, have you noticed that the medals look different in different browsers? In IE6 they look sticked together, side by side, in IE7 there's a gap, between them.
I think some of the medal-worthy stats need looking at, though. For instance, someone whose entire gold medal status comes from having 100% boarding efficiency when they've only boarded 4 ships (not naming any names here...Toastie wrote: Like I said, the medals indicate general achievement, while the uplink area and forum stats aim to give more detail.
