Yes they go empty to buy and bring back microchips to the outpost.

Here are the save+galaxy

Outpost in Bright profit.
One of the traders is "going back home". -> He's the one I spotted who was going to buy microchips. I stopped him on the way.
I assume if you SETA until he's home and assign him as trader again, he will go again?



EDIT : oh do you mean they could go buy it and sell it without bringing it back to the outpost first? No idea about that, I never allowed them to go this far ! I'm tight on money so I baby-sit the workers :-D

Yeah, I was pretty sure you didn't get that. Your Traders... are actual Traders. They replace UT. As it says in the Traders tab of your Outposts, they first look for their homebase's needs, then look for external opportunities.

EDIT: I'll probably add another control to allow / deny your Traders from *this* Outpost to look for external opportunities.

Ooo Oooooo Oooooooooo that explains a lot !! :-D
So last time it was chemicals, now microchips... actually all these were external trades !! Brilliant !!
  • How do they respect Outpost max range as well when trading externally?
  • If galaxy is A-B-C-D-E, Outpost in sector C with max range=2, will it buy in A and sell in E (I hope not^^)?
  • I guess the Traders proceed to check :
    1. if station needs something
    2. if station sells something
    3. external opportunities

I still find food trading a bit werid. An outpost is 2 jumps away from mine, got over 10k meat in it. I have around 300 meat left in stock, import threshold set to 3k, export to 10k. Traders do everything on the list EXCEPT the meat. I only got it after removing all other trade wares.

Of course it will go to A and E... It's max. range 2 from homebase, at all time. I don't know what else to tell you, it's vanilla behavior.

Yes that's how they work. Note that scanning for best buy and best sell is done at your homebase. They don't buy things if they have no chance of selling them.

By the way, Trader command description: "Traders are assigned to Outposts and Trading Stations. They first try to trade their homebase's wares that are listed in the Traders section of the logistics menu, in the Outpost Manager, then they look for opportunities by browsing reachable factories.\n\nIf you want to trade a ware that you have in one of your Outposts, you must explicitly add it to the list of wares in the Traders tab of the Logistics section, in the Outpost Manager menu."

Just wanted to add that I only have 1 outpost and the one mentioned with tons of meat is an AI one.

That sounds perfect :-) And yes, blame's on me, I read all the encyclopedia entries but didn't think about these command descriptions! Great way of showing it by the way, really cool !


It's all more random questions and issue reports than criticism, I spent hundreds of hours playing Mayhem 2 so I know how reliable and accurate you are ;-)

In my save, OCV are wrecking IA fleets and sectors, already 9 totally wiped and conquered by OCV, is this normal ? By the way, they seems so much powerfull than in Mayhem 2, one Z has wiped a whole fleet of 70 Arrow with only minor damage on hull, a fleet that was enough to clear a xenon sector, even if capital ship were present (most of the time, one J, 2 to 5 Q, and lot of P and fighters), that's impressive :D OCV fleet are 3 capitals, some M7 and M 6 and a lot of M4 (but no M3, ironically).
I think it's not intended, but i manage to scan a Z OCV, while all other ships send me error message when i try. It is not possible to maker any research for the blueprint thought.
Second question, i did not declare war on Yaki, so i receive a message telling me that i'll be punish, but i did not see what happened, is this normal ?
I also encouter what looks like a small bug : OOS, my fighters don't do any damage to station. At the second i jump in, the station shield and hull melt like i guess is intended. nothing game breacking, but still.

Would be interested to see your savegame (+ galaxy files).
Fighters bug may be related to laser range; I'll look into it.

End-game is still in very beta stage, as no one before you ever reported anything about the OCV. Congrats! M2s have a shit ton of hull and shield, and it's intended that fighters are not as strong as they were before against capital ships.
How many OCV waves to wipe the 9 sectors, only one?

I don't know what you mean by "your galaxy", which file do you need ?

From what i recall, that was 2 or 3 waves. Fun fact, once they had wiped a sector, they leave it unprotected, so it would be very easy to just destroy the remaining station and take the sector (well, even if the prior owner would be a bit upset i guess)

But still, i understand end game is still very beta. From my point of view, in order to fight back these waves, i'll nend so much more that what i have now, M2 seems mandatory just to sustain the heavy fire. I try to get close to a Z to scan it, in a mandalay, she tears appart my shield in 5 volley, 5Gj wiped like it was nothing (i'm bad at evasing shots, so... a good player could probably survive better than i did). But for now, OCV is not a threat to me as they are busy with NPC, which are unable to fight back. By looking at the number of ship they have, it seems very low, like they can't rebuild what they had lost while fighting to each other, but take this with grain of salt as it's a Beta 2 save patched, it may have broke something.

I will soon try the new capture mechanic, i'll try to give you more feedback tomorrow (still confined and in "chômage partiel" :D )

Zip that galaxy up along with your savegame of that galaxy. Jouby can't play the savegame without the fitting galaxy.

1. finally, i got myself the teleportation device, works nice) had a little bug with it, when i first downloaded the beta 2 save on beta 3, i got the message in my personal console there was the target sector, but the factory was "unknown object", when i arrived at this sector, nothing happened. Then i decided to save and load again, and i got the second entry on my personal journal right below the first one (i`m talking about "learn to jump" mission, yes, it had 2 entries in the same time, one with "unknown object" and another with correct data). i wanted to send you the save file with it, but now, when i have the device, mission does not trigger anymore, even on old saves.
2. I have a suggestion: New Perk: Increased recycle rate. for example, make it 30% by deafult and 80% with the perk. OR make it grow as we recycle more, like production "specialisation" function.

@joubarbe outpost does not strip ship before recycling. Its equipment disappears with the ship. let me know if u need save

No, it's fine, easy fix, I just forgot to strip the ship. More resources for the AI as well!

i have a problem in Magrathea. The Paranids wrecked it for me and it is now ripe to conquer. My fleet is attacking the Teladi outpost. Their command info says that they are "following" the station. I remember that it needs to state "killing" for them to do actual damage. I tried the invasion fleet command and individual attack orders.
