I think it's one of the things that ultimately caused Nuklear-Slug to stop, because it's so hard to keep everything reported to the level that we really want to do. That's why I stopped trying to do the asset list all the time. Because the few times I do write it up, I do it very thoroughly, and don't do any gameplay during the time I'm recording.

Probably time for another one, now that I think of it.

haha yeah i'm the same, i put off doing an assests list till 46 here asked me to do one, took me bout 15 minutes on its own, the only bad thing bout writing a story, getting all the smaller details for everyone :D
keep it up, im loving your style

Ahaha yeah, i screenshoted the lot, and just copied off of t hat and then sorted.

Tho tbh, ive avoided the whole mass numbers of fighters and freighters floating around, mostly cause i ceebs paying 500k per freighter for it to STOP BUGGING ME

thanks :) i cannibalized the offending machine, and am currently recovering data from its hard drive... luckily everything is intact and usable (at least seems so)

thankfully i have another tower, and had enough time to work on it today (while teaching my 5 year old how computers work :) ) only down side is the new board has a crap processor and i have no thermal paste to install the better one...

highlight of the day.... trying to get a driver for my wireless adapter.... had to download it, but had no internet.... thank Gunne for thumb-drives and neighbors

I'll be totally honest. I've never used thermal paste. Ever. I've never had an issue.

Use thermal paste.

Whilst you may not suffer a processer failure from its absence the CPU will over heat more than it should and cause some not visible processing sapeed drop offs, which is not good when dealing with a high end graphics rescource requirement.
When traveling pause occasionally, look back and enjoy the moment again.

Chapter 15: Nothing to See Here

After returning to the Asylum, I sit with my small crew, and discuss strategy. I told the boys they would now form Green Wing, and their primary focus would be two fold. Firstly they would protect the Asylum, and secondly they would pick up any loot, that might happen to be floating around. If I needed assistance while in the Medusa I would let them know. I would also be using Scavenger for looting when needed. As we finish our drinks, I order them to get ready, and head to the command chair.

Soon we were undocking and heading west into Treasure Chest. I saw no Terrans in sector, but fortunately there were plenty of Paranid freighters. I hopped in the still unnamed Medusa, and ordered Asylum to sector center, to serve as a scout. The nearest three eyed pilot was flying a Pericles, and had another M4 as an escort. Closing the distance I let fire my HEPTs. My target, the escort, was overwhelmed by the green stream of plasma, and died before he realized he was under attack. The freight transporter himself, I took more time with. Using short bursts I took down his shield, and started biting into his hull. I demand his cargo, and he obliges… and then is destroyed.

The next target is another M4 transporter, and I closed quickly. Much like the last, I strip his shields, take his stuff, and kill him afterwards. I order Green Wing to start collecting loot, as I move to the next target. This one is a military transporter, in a Demeter. I open fire, still using only my plasma throwers, and demand his cargo. With a laugh he agrees and drops five fighter drones. Now, I think it’s kind of funny because I ignore them completely, and let my turrets take care of them. After watching his drones not even faze me, the pilot soon was dropping the rest of his cargo, including two 2gj shields.

After I destroyed the wanna-be joker, I call in Scavenger to help with the looting. The next Paranid is a food transporter, and is quickly within firing range, and destroyed as well, after he emptied his hold of course. Seeing no one else I could persuade to give me their cargo, I return to Asylum, and watch as my ships finish salvaging the various wreckages. Once they were done, I send Scavenger away, and Green Wing to return, and move west into Omicron Lyrae.

Once again I see no Terrans to kill, but do see a few three eyes. Getting in the Medusa, I quickly shred another Demeter, and have him give up his cargo. I then spot a Paranid weapons dealer, and close within firing range. My plasma throwers arc through the void, smashing into the Demeter, and quickly drop his shields. I then give him the normal demand of ‘give me all your stuff or die.’ He drops his loot, including a FBL, and I still kill him. You would think they would learn by now, but for claiming to be so superior, Paranids can sure be dumb.

I scoop up the bomb launcher, as soon as the fireball clears, and install it on my front turret. I then ordered the salvaging of the sector, and got back in my Zephyrus. Once the looting was over I moved north, and entered Circle of Labor. Finally I spot some Terran ships, and enter the Medusa once more. I switch my weapons group to all guns, and close on a Thor. I open fire, and he swiftly is reduced to floating scraps and debris.

I then turn my attention to a Scimitar. This pilot actually had a bit of skill apparently, because after only a few shots landed she cut right, and accelerated, flipping to red. After a short chase, I manage to land enough plasma and chain gun shots to take her down, and she screamed as her fighter turned into a fireball. Before the screams were fading from my comm. I am already firing on a nearby Mjollnir. The M4 dies quicker than expected, because I forgot to switch back to light guns… oops. Switching to plasma throwers only I look for another target.

It doesn’t take long to spot another Terran M4 nearby, and I begin to close in. I fire on the interceptor, and make swift work of it, without wasting any ammo. The next Terran foolish enough to be near me, and smaller than me, was a Sabre. The target is faster than me, and closer to Asylum, so I order my pilots to engage. I turn towards the Terran ship, and watch as Green Wing launch, speeding towards the M4.

Warren got there first, and opened fire. The orange IRE shots mixing with white PAC fire struck the Sabre, causing it to turn hostile, and try to turn towards the Buster that just hit it. As the Terran was turning, Wingnut arrived on scene, and opened fire stripping the rest of the targets shields. Both the pilots then lined up for another run, and the Sabre was no more. As I order Green Wing to salvage, and head back to the TM, I get a message from Commander Derik.

According to the message I have been ordered to report back to M148 to receive information about a new assignment. Apparently it has something to do about Jonferco possibly working with the Terrans or something. Huh, guess I finally killed enough Terrans for now. Finally. I wait for my pilots to finish grabbing up anything of value, and order them to dock. I then set a jump for Argon Sector M148.

The warp tunnel closes and I instantly spot a patrol sector mission, staying in sector, which I accept. I get in the Medusa, and order Green Wing to attack my target, as I move deeper into the sector, and wait for enemies. I don’t have to wait long, as I spot a wing of Xenon, led by a pair of Ls. I turn towards the formation, but before I could even decide who I was taking down first, I spot the flail missile swarms closing on the hostile machines. The missiles soon were exploding among the Xenon, and I watch as they are all annihilated.

Not long after, the mission flagged as completed, paying me 44k for ‘helping.’ Shrugging I order the pilots to scoop loot, as I dock back at the Asylum. As I wait for the salvaging to be done, I prepare some space weed, and light it up. The fighters return, and I start heading towards the military outpost, where Derik wanted me to land. As the docking clamps locked into the ship, I was stubbing out my weed and putting it away, when the Commander’s face appeared on-screen.

He tells me that Jonferco has been selling tech to the Terrans, and we need to get more information. I am to be given an Advanced Discoverer, with special equipment on board, and need to use it to spy on a meeting between Jonferco, and someone else. The Commander seemed upset that I was to be given a ship, but transferred the controls over anyway, cutting the video link. Smiling I transported to the scout.

The cockpit is almost identical to the Busters, except smaller. The ship is already armed with IREs, and has most software needed for combat, as if I would fight in the thing. It needs some tuning to the engine before it will be top notch though. I exit the outpost, and order Asylum to follow me. Once the TM is out of the station I dock, and plot a jump to Belt of Aguilar.

Once we arrive in the sector, I get in the Discoverer, and dock at Jonferco, ordering my Zephyrus to do the same. I purchased some advanced software, and headed over to the trading station, once it was done. There I tuned the ship to max speed, cargo, and turning. Waiting only long enough for the mechanics to finish, I speed back into the void, heading north into Albion Gamma.

The sector had already been mapped, thanks to my short lived mapping Harrier. I move deeper into the large sector, avoiding the scatted asteroid debris and ships. Soon I spot a Paranid Deimos, and receive a message reminding me to just listen and not kill. Moving towards the suspicious Deimos, I spot a Jonferco command ship, and speed towards it. As I near the ship, I cut speed and laugh to myself. Hopefully these guys I’m listening to aren’t smart, because I am going to be easy to spot otherwise.

Soon I intercept a video feed of a conversation. There is a middle aged Argon, making a deal with a Paranid. They were talking about highways of all things. Why does a Paranid care about roads anyway? Oh, wait apparently it’s something there making in space now. Also the annoying Paranid has now apparently spotted me, took him long enough. Since the Argon military’s brilliant plan of ‘fly real close and hope they don’t see you’ didn’t work, I head south, back into Belt of Aguilar.

I have the Asylum meet me near the gate, and I dock. i then spot an assassination mission, and accept it. Unfortunately I need to go talk to a contact in Albion Alpha to get the information on the target. I cancel the mission, since I doubt I could finish in time, and set a jump to M148, so I could report my findings. Soon I was pulling up to the military outpost, and the data was being transferred. While that was going on, Derik informed me I was on leave, and would be contacted if I was needed again.

Shrugging, I leave the outpost, and continue what I was doing earlier, mapping. I jump to the southern gate in Faded Dreams, and turn around, entering into Veil of Delusion. I immediately see a Galleon, with escorting fighters, only 20 KM away. The carrier is directly in front on me, so I turn the ship up and around the gate, heading to the Pirate Base I see on the radar. The Galleon seems to be heading straight towards me as I make my way to the base and dock, but I couldn’t be sure.

While at the base I hire on a couple more Marines. I selected a couple of tough fighters, the bio-scanners says four stars. One is a Teladi, the other a Boron, both accept the contact and are bunked with my two Argon Marines. That bit of business out of the way, I leave the station, and am greeted by the sight of the Galleon, still heading straight towards me. Frowning, I set a jump to Queens Harbor, to avoid having to deal with the pirate carrier.

Entering the sector I am offered an assassination mission, and gladly accept. The target is a pirate Buster Hauler in Faded Dreams, so I plot a jump to that sector, and soon see the target. Unfortunately I jumped to the wrong gate, so I plot a short jump, and ready the Medusa. Once the warp tunnel fades I get in the fighter, and open fire on the helpless mark. He quickly falls in a fiery explosion, and I am paid 260k. The other pirates seem to have a problem with this, since they turn red right away.

Quickly decimating a Buzzard, I decide to let my pilots have some fun, and order them to back me up. I close on another pirate, this one in a Buster, and open fire. As my HEPT fire reaches the ship, so does Green Wing. Out combined firepower demolishes the M4, and we move to the next target. Cutting speed I let them take on the Buzzard alone, and they don’t disappoint as they quickly shred the pirate, causing a flash as the enemy was destroyed.

I return to Asylum, and letting my fighters clean up the loot, decide I could use a break. Once Green Wing is finished, I head to the military outpost in sector. As soon as the ship lands, I head onboard the station, and begin looking for a nice quite place to have a few drinks.
