And let's not answer that question, please. This is not the place to discuss such things.

As far as I know the Bonus Pack will continue to be a separate download. There is no reason why there should be compatibility issues, but you will have to wait for the final release notes for a definitive answer.

Wow! The news article makes the BG missions sound really awesome! Can't wait to paint the ships different colors and pull ships around with a tractor beam! :D

Just a quick question about AVARICE. What are the actual benefits of spending a load of credits on your own sector other than it being your very own sector !! I can understand that it is something to see an entire sector in green but apart from that, whats in it for the player ?? I already have a large missile complex down there. It`s patrolled by 3 M6`s, a TL loaded with M3`s and i often patrol around there in my own M6, as far as i`m concerned with all that hardware down there and plans to put my HQ there it is already MINE. Your thoughts please. :)

CBJ wrote:It does say in the original post that the colouring facility is pretty basic. We are not talking about camouflage patterns here, just slight colour variations in certain areas of the kind you see on other ships flying around.
I remarked about this feature a fathom ago in the early midst of time... I always wanted a feature such as a spray paint factory say to customise your ships look.... its amazing how such a small thing like this can draw yourself into a game and the ship you fly.

So brilliantly simple, why its not been done before now is a mystery. :P

affecting?

With the future release of the 2.0 expansion, how will that affect mods and scripts? Will those who have been using them(myself included) have to start over?

I would have liked a bit more done on the colouring feature as in perhaps use 4 layers and vinayls. Bit like u do in need for speed u 2. I mean just a few badges to choose from and patterns and colours. To make it really unique so nowt in the game looks as good and other ships are just as diff using a random generated look somehow.

depends which scripts and mods you use, big mods that adjust the main files, like DDRS, XFP, Xtended, etc wont work with the new patch until they get converted. However, most scripts should work find with new patchs.

Sorry to continue the discussion about scripts but I still don’t fully understand them. I am currently using the DDRS script which I think is brilliant. I have been playing with it for ages and have built up all my statistics (combat rating, race rank, credits etc) a big fleet of DDRS ships and vanilla ships.

I read the words “wont work with new patch” but don’t fully understand what that means. I assume that having the script running is not possible. I would thus turn it off in the startup screen. BUT is this enough? Will my saved games containing all my ships/statistics still work, but I won’t see any more missions so I can’t have new DDRS ships? Or will nothing work and I have to go back to a saved game before I started using the script?

If I have understood a comment on the DDRS thread correctly, the updated DDRS script that will work with BalaGi is also incompatible with the old DDRS script, so upgrading DDRS is not an option either.

You can see where this is heading…I obviously don’t want to lose days of playing to use the new patch :( .

Once again scripts should work, mods which modify any other files probably won't. As I understand it the DDRS is a combination of both meaning that it probably won't work, at least not the mod elements such as new ships. If you want to use things like the DDRS then you will have to hold off from applying the 2.0 update to see what the mod's author does about this and whether they are able to solve possible issues with savegames and the like.

Losing savegames when patches and updates are released is, I'm afraid, a risk you take when using third party scripts and mods. The developers cannot make any promises about this when the game you are playing is effectively not the one they originally released.

Thanks CBJ. I had a horrible feeling that is what the answer would be  . I also accept that it would be very difficult for the developers to take account of everyone else’s addons/code/scripts etc. It’s bad enough trying to make your own stuff work together :D

Although I would hate to lose some of the DDRS ships, it is the hours (days!) spent building up the ranks that would be the biggest loss to me. I suppose I could justify a “cheat” script that could put me back to where I was; does such a thing exist?

I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it all hangs together.

Thanks again.

A big thankyou to Egosoft,I've been waiting a long time for this....

Now all I need is a graphics card that'll run it.

Thanks m+e. I guessed there would be. It's just that I am such an honest and upright citizen I would never normally do such a thing

The auction is not new to the 2.0 update so why not ask in a new thread in the forum? I think that for most people it is just a matter as knowing that you really do own a sector rather than just occupying it.

Once again, it is not something new in this update. Do a forum search for more information, but do be aware that you might find spoilers.
