Hi I'm pretty much a noob here, and ready to plunge in. I recently purchased X3TC and found the Xtended bonus mod. I have a couple of questions. Please forgive my not reading through 300+ pages on this thread.

1. Can I still play the Vanilla story mode with XTended installed?
I assume if so, that the story mode is not available in the custom game mode.

2. I tried to start a custom game and ended up in one sector with no AI, no stations, no money, no weapons and the two gates I found launch me back into that same sector. Am I missing something?

3. If it turns out I have to script my own starting parameters for the custom game mode, are there any to be found here on the forum?
I have ZERO experience with scripting. I also did not find any options in the vanilla or Xtended to select parameters before starting a cutom game.

4. I downloaded the version available from the Bonus Content area, but I have noticed it's not the most recent version available at the head of this thread. Is that possibly why I was having the 'go nowhere, do nothing' problem in question 2?

I have decided to temporarily reinstall the vanilla, and learn some basics, but I would really like to give XTended a shot. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and will help me decide whether to stay Vanilla til I get the story mode or reinstall Xtended (Which I'd much rather do even though Vanilla is kicking my face in right now, LOL).

Thanks :)

1. No, you can't play the vanilla story, no matter which start you choose. XTC however, has its own plots.

2. Do not use the custom start, use one of the normal ones.

3. Don't bother doing so, with the already existing starts, you get ships and money. Moreover, using custom start will deactivate tons of stuff.

4. Just to make sure, uninstall X3:TC completely, reinstall it and patch it. Then download and install XTC2.0.
If brute force doesn't solve your problems, then you aren't using enough

Hi, and thanks for the quick reply,

I cannot seem to find this option in the activation menu, however I did find that there are some corporation bases, for example in one of the Aldrin sectors I found Industritech; this corporation, however, does not have its own ships. I remember in vanilla there would be corporate transports and warships all the time. Have those been eliminated? The only corporation with warships (or any sort of ships) is OTAS.

Thanks in advance,
Batty

Hello Ikaruga. Thanks for the reply. :)

Being that I'm new to the X Universe, I've decided to stick with the Vanilla until I get the hang of things and also get through the story missions. Then I'll go to XTended.

The incredible amount of detail is something I'm not used to in any game, but I like it. I'm still in awe about how a hostile ship can die so fast, but a hostile of the same model type - but better equipped - can kill you in 2 or 3 hits.

Really makes you think about how far out you can venture from home before you need to upgrade and hire help. 8)

Players now have a personal escape pod on Bigships.
A really nice feature, but NPC's have them too :D

I'll stick with XRM though.... to me XTC doesn't feel like the big boost XTM used to be for X3R. What happened to the Vidar's two docking bays? *jk*

The new universe is the big deal though :)

Is there anywhere to read about the ship R6 Configuration menu? Auto-resupply doesn't seem to do much.

Still no changelog or manual for 2.0, or have I missed it?

Can someone help me find the list of compatible mods? Found it long ago, but having trouble ATM. Need to get ahold of CLS and CAG. Think they're compatible, at least partially IIRC.

This is the closest thing I've seen, though I haven't been looking.

You will want to be very careful about adding any new scripts. Don't use the plugin manager to do it (as it forces Ware Manager which corrupts XTC) and don't rely on any posts saying certain scripts are working as it is still very early in testing. It is very easy to break XTC and many scripts may appear to work only to come up with hidden and nasty bugs later in the game. Speaking from experience unfortunately.

If the script wasn't specifically made or adapted for XTC 2.0 I would recommend going without. XTC is just too far gone from the original game for most scripts to work correctly.

Is this confirmed? Looks like I need to reinstall if so. I used the plugin manager to install the cheat package.

Which is ironic considering my only reason for doing that was in case I needed the cheats to work around bugs :(

I'm going to go ahead and follow this advice, given that I'm inexperienced with mods/scripts. I really like XTC, but it is lacking in terms of trading functionality (exactly as vanilla is without bonus pack). If I could just get ahold of CLS Mk2 or something - anything - similar, I could do everything I want to do.

Thanks for your guys' help. I'm still open to suggestions.

@AndrewRG

Try this https://docs.google.com/a/barad.co.uk/f ... lBcE0/edit

It's a complete pack you just install into your scripts and T folders. It was designed specifically to run Lucike's CAG's and CLS software in XTC.

Well honestly you can do the easy ones just fine without repairing the ships. Later, when it gets harder, you can (or rather you'll have to) use a TM for fighters and a JD for the others anyway.

Yeah I could do that or find a work around for the repair laser ;) Besides, what's the fun in doing those missions if you can't sell any of the ships for a rather large profit?

Sorry for the bump but can anyone confirm for me that I need to reinstall if I activated plugin manager for XTC?

Any reason this Mod would need to connect to the internet?

Just had my firewall notify me it was doing just that.
