thats because i got lazy and didn't think any read let alone noticed a couple of not added entries.

@ M@Rek i'll not be able to fix that and the dev's are already aware of this issue. the problem seems that the game doesn't know what to do when there are more then 1 gun assigned to the same model that doesn't have a sub model assigned.

well, i can't even imagine how this savegame-thing could possibly work. but i for one don't need the 7th miniplot which does nothing than to introduce a useless ship. there is so many stuff that could be fixed in a few minutes (xenon-/gate hub, ship variants, torus collision, hive [btw a great modell] collision, aldrin economy, missile subtypes, formation collision, truelight seeker etc etc etc)... if just someone would take these few minutes. instead we get 'tresure hunt' - wow!

there would be no need to patch the game if they had done their job in the first place. patching a game is a naughtiness and it's sad so many people deem it good.

I have one thing to say to this:
there would be no need to patch the game if they had done their job in the first place. patching a game is a naughtiness and it's sad so many people deem it good.
You type 50,000+ lines of code without making a single error..and that is just for ONE file. Consider a video game links quite literally thousands of files in a massive web that would make the average persons brain explode.

Not to mention the fact that every single content patch is for all intensive purposes, entirely free. In fact even doing a PATCH is an EXPENSE to a company because they actually have to pay someone to write the corrected code.

All props to bug fixers and the incredibly under appreciated work that they do.

Compatible with 2.7

Partial fix: When certain ships docked at stations using autodock ship would sometimes not quite make the connection. This appears to be a two part fix and I only accomplished 1 part.

Mostly fixed: some ships were having ranging problems when shooting at other ships. I.E. A ship would start firing at another ship long before it was in range. All small classed ships were check and fixed except for the old x2 models.

Crash with June 2 version of TC Update

Post by shdwphnx »

I am not sure what the issue is, but if I install the June 2, 2010 version of TC Update in my Steam version of X3: TC v2.7 on 64-bit Windows 7, I get the following error when launching X3...

This is on a fresh install of X3: TC with no other mods installed (I removed everything before updating from 2.6 to 2.7). The error occurs before it even plays the starry EgoSoft logo video.

I have redownloaded this mod using a different PC on a different ISP, so I am confident it is not a corrupt download of the mod. After removing this mod, I have installed a number of others (including several that use numbered CAT & DAT files) and have had no issues with any of them, so I am confident I do not have a bad install of X3: TC.

I had no issues with the previous version of this mod on X3: TC v2.6, for whatever that is worth.

I would very much like to get this fixed, and will be happy to provide any additional information or perform any testing that may help solve this.

The same problem here, but i've tracked some errors down

"Xenon_m6m_scene"

There is a typo

Code: Select all

P 16; B ships\props\m6turret4_dummy; C 2; N Bships\props\m6turret4_dummy_2b01; b1
  { 0x2002; -21611; -11737; -36111; 0.250000; 0.000000; -1.000000; 0.000000; -1; -1; } // -1
should be "b" not "b1" and a typo in "Terran_m8_scene"

Code: Select all

P 2; B ships\props\cameradummy; C 1; N Bships\props\cameradummy_1b; b
/ { 0x2002; 89; 1045; 15462; 0.000000; 0.000000; 0.000000; 0.000000; -1; -1; } // -1
just remove the "/".

Well, that solved the crashing errors for me.

cheers,
mace

just install the 2.7 patch which will overwrite mine at position 11. Then place the new one unofficial in position 12.

@mace24de thanks for findings and i have incorperated the fixes

@shdwphnx the crash you were having is because of the second issue mace24de located. that game couldn't find the cockpit position because it was committed out.

*update*

i have fixed both problems identified by mace24de as well as two others while reviewing my fixes. it involved the harrier raider and vanguard. each ship had one of its guns none functioning. now fixed.

Got one that needs looked at:

In the mission "Argon Patrol" in the TC main plot, where Lt Plinter is flying around in heretics end in a Scimitar, if you fly one of your capital ships in (at least with you flying) he will try dock with you. If successful, you cannot communicate with his ship and are therefore stuck.

You must communicate with him before he finishes docking or you cannot continue.

unfortunatly that is a MD problem that I can not fix as I haven't learned MD yet. But if you post that in the L3 forum both enenera and xenon_slayer seem to be trying to squash as many MD problems as possible right now. so there is a very good chance it would be looked at and fixed.

I've tried opening the rar-file with the latest 32-bit and 64 bit versions of 7-zip and I have also tried WinRar (latest from their site). None of them is able to open the file. Is there any other format available?

Thanks in advance. ;)

Nope. Must be something on my end. Sorry. Downloaded it twice. Both corrupted. Will try another method to download it. Thanks.

Ah... It worked.

Kind of. Hehe.

This is my problem. In previous versions the Griffon used to work. It had the stats as advertized. In 2.7 it all of a sudden had a max of 4 * 1GJ shields instead of 3, 4800 cargo capacity instead of 3500, a laser energy of 74,000/63.000 (117%) (erm), and its graphics were messed up (looked like Teladi hull plating - even the antennas). And it doesn't shoot. It used to do that. Now it can only fire missiles. Odd.

A fresh Griffon had the same stats, but now the laser energy was 74,000/74,000.

So today I unistalled 2.7 and redownloaded it from Steam in the hope that it would fix it. To no avail.

My last hope was you. Hehe. But after installing your fixes and running the game it crashed. I've uninstalled them again and now at least it runs.

I think the best I can do is to sell them. Too bad. They were rather cool. Well... Before these problems. ;)

Any ideas? Corrupt saved game or a bug in the stats?

Thanks gain. ;)

yes the griffon.....

the griffon and a couple other ATF ships had their stats changed by the dev's and my mod reflects those changes. i want this stay in line with what whatever the dev's plan on, when the 3.0 aka superbox comes out.

now the griffon had one additional change(s) and it is causing the cockpits and guns to no longer function. i could get the griffon working again but it would require a few changes to the scene file to make the guns and cockpits function again.

That really would make my day. :)

Edit: Thinking about it some more... Because it will be changed by the devs later on it is probably not worth putting much effort in it.
