I dont think I posted anything about the patch would not achieve anything. I like others here have great hopes for it so maybe your mixing up your posts
It really helps you telling me that the game works for u, thx
Again I repeat I have not asked to be kept informed every day just to be kept informed.
I'll ask you this. If you told your kids Santa will be coming some time towards the end of december how many times a day do you think you will hear. 'Is he here yet, is he here yet'.
Wouldnt it make more sense just to tell em? especially if you told them that he would be coming in mid november originally.
In the real world I would remind you, that ignoring customer confidence and good will will see you on the dole que quicker than u think. Yep life aint fair, its hard too

just read your reply again. This thread may be six days old, the problems are not. So that was 2 mistakes you made in replying to my post. So u tell me how many post ego have made since announcing a patch for mid november?
I never assumed the game was not working for you, I was just saying if it wasn't working properly then I was sorry for you. I made no mistakes in replying to your thread, nor did I say the problems were not there. What I did say was that you were wrong to criticize the mod with incorrect information, because yes, your information was incorrect. You specifically stated that the original post said mid november, what original post? This post never said anything about november, the README did for the patch before 1.21. Oh, and there have been a couple (meaning 2) updates within a months time, which really is not that bad. The last update being 6 or 7 days ago, which is rather recent. IF the patch is not done by Christmas, I am sure they will let us know, but as it is not yet Christmas, complaining about it is just foolish. I in no way meant to criticize you, I am just stating facts.
Will you be able to complete the game with the 1.3 bug fix? When will the game have the copy protection be removed like X2? As I will not go near this game untill it happens.

Very naughty to open pressies early, gets you on the naughty list for next year
ok that wasnt funny
note: UK release date was 28th October 2005
thats along time 2 wait for playable version of game
like i said earlier
if a certified patch cannot be release ASAP
then beta patch should be released
as some are still waiting to get round to playing this game - as when all plot holes and performance issue etc.
are fixed
I fear a beta patch would only cause more bruhaha. Imagine the repsonse of the beta patch introduced new bugs, instead of fixing every known (and acknowleged) issue.
There'd be hell to pay for Egosoft. I don't think they're hell-bent on damaging their reputation.
For this reason, as well as their being keenly interested in their products, I'm sure they're doing their best.
the idea of a beta patch
is this:-
that it is BETA-and not a final version
& if ....nudge...
a non-offical soucre should leak it - oh shock horror
id be happy for 1
until the final 1.3 cert patch came out.[/i]
if I miss a project deadline, i better be able to offer an exact eta to the second - or god help me.
What more can I add, although I notice EGOSOFT's response, I think they must be as unhappy as we are.....would you employ someone from EGOSOFT at your Company.....NO WAY

The Mod posted
The original post in this thread is only 6 days old. That hardly constitutes being kept in the dark. Is there really any point in someone posting "we're working on it" every day? When there is something new to say, then an update will be provided.
I thought my answer quite clear that this patch has been waited for for much longer than 6 days, if that was not clear sorry. I hope it is now.
I feel I have a valid point in asking to be kept informed and never, repeat never asked for a daily update.
If I am told the patch will be released on xxxxDate then I will wait (still be nice to be informed at some time on its progress) If I am told as here prior to Xmas after being let down once already I feel it would be polite to let me know if prior is going to be the case. A round about date does not fill me with confidence.
The, when there is somthing to say then an update will be provided remark. Really. Mod or not I do not get dismissed off hand when what I am asking for costs nothing, takes minutes and would go some way to rebuild confidence in EGOSOFT.
There is what 5 days to go till 'prior' to Xmas is reached and past. Servers to download the patches I would guess must have been booked. Testing must be not far from complete so I would say there is plenty that Ego could tell us about a patch that has been worked on for at least a month.
As I am sure you are aware many posts asking 'when?' have been posted which could be answered by a two line post from ego. The silence is worrying. I am an X fan and a paying customer that is just asking that Ego keep us informed.
Yes 6 days is a long time after waiting a month for a patch that may not solve my problems anyhow to be told an incomplete list of fixes and a sketchy release date and 'now shut it and go away.'
To me it is good buisness sense, shows some respect towards their customers and IS NOT AGAINST THE LAW.
If you feel this post has no merrit then feel free to ignore it. I have no doubt that no one from Ego will read it but I reserve my right to post it and vent a little frustration

Despite all the complaints I hear, I haven't had a single problem with any aspect of X3. Framerate is great (except on SETA), the game has yet to crash, and I've found no plot bugs up to this point. I heard through the grapevine, however, that M6's can no longer dock an M5 (design choice)... thats the only thing thats broken! Fix it, how am I supposed to drop my nav satellites now, not to mention that the pegasus can't get up to 913 m/s anymore.
So far I haven't had any major problems with my game. The plot is a bit messed up! But hey I've seen and had more probs with other games than with X3. X2 was excellent and so is X3, but as with ANY other PC game, to get the best playable game you can can DOWNLOAD the patch. This applies to just about any PC game I can think of.
I've never heard more complaints about one single game than in these forums. I understand the frustration and where you all are coming from. HL2 was also terrible, having to download all that rubbish before you could even play the game(i was on a 56KBPs dial-up connection at the time). NO ONE complained much about that, they just downloaded it and got on with there lives!
All I'm trying to say is that it's close to christmas time and a time for giving. So PLEASE give X3 a chance to become the truly great game that it is destined to be!
Thank You one and all.
Merry Christmas and a GREAT New Year to each and every one of you.

1009.6 m/s AND IT WAS GOOD
Ontopic; The only things I have problems with are the framerate on SETA (not over 600%..) and the lack of BBS missions. The rest is only minor inconvenience for me.

Ahhh this brings back memories. I remember WWII Online, the big patch that wsa supposed to fix all the worst bugs from the launch of the game. Everyone had waited months for it and the poor community relations guy came on and said he was going to lunch to have his "ham sammich" and when he got back we should all be ready to have a patch. It was 16 hours atleast before that "ham sammich" was eaten cuz thats how long it took for the poor guy to face the music and come back and tell us that they tried everything but they ran into some huge problem and the patch wasnt going to come out. I still feel sorry for that guy lol. but the story cracks me up. You could tell how excited everyone who was working on the patch was that it ws finally release time, and then bam, last minute bug explodes on the scene. I never even complained cuz I could tell how crushed they must have felt.

who needs a peagus when my baracuda can get upto 1300m/s with the afterburners on
that game had soo much potential but the bugs in it prevented anyone from enjoying it...soo many such that they released several games there after to fix the bugs of the prior, and yet, they were still plagued with bugs galore...i didnt even bother buying the last few versions... but the X serious has made some leaps and bounds past their flaws... yet still it is plagued w/ bugs...
seriously though, what do you expect? the game is immensly complex... this is not your typical side scrowling game like "streets of rage" back in the days of the saga genisis...
not to mention they rushed the game out to us, w/o testing it for 6 months with a team of suckers, i mean beta testers...
but there are still tons of aspects of this game that i wish were in it...
for one i wish the ships were alot more configureable... forinstance you could swap out 50 spaces of storage for another gun turret
or dump some sheilds for a larger engine
stuff like that (alittle like x-com apocolypse)
also, i wish there were upgrades for your ship more like diablo style... such that you never knew what you would be up against until you scanned the ship (ie a M5 could mount a gun as strong as a ppc if it found it in some unknown sector or something)
i mean seriously...i bought this game soley based on my enjoyment of its predisessor, x2... but there is no return policy on this game, i'm stuck with it, they've got my money...and they could just run with it....
with that said.... since you are releasing this for x-mas...and i've been good! (mostly)
can i also have:
a jump drive that goes to any point in space
the ability to buy a cloaking device
alot more missions to play from the bbs (ie assisination missions like in x2)
increase the distance that the system overide can work so i dont have to fly close enough to plant my nose in his B**T
alot more stuff to kill in space....
i cant tell you how many hours i've just flown around looking for stuff to kill/cap it gets annoying when there are no priates anywhere!
(and there is no way i could take on a xenon sector in just a mamba)
See? It's working now. It's marvelous how programming is easy these days.
...
*sigh*
I can't believe there are still people today who are thinking that creating a software is like buying a Big Mac at McDonalds... "I would like mine without ketchup please."
Lirethion wrote:you people just can not be pleased can you... I bet none of you are programmers by trade nor do any of you work in the program design field. Damn all you bitch about is how buggy the game is if you can build it better then do it otherwise give the programmers a break sheese quit complaining.
So I should'nt complain to my mechanic in regards to him taking 2 months longer than he should to fix my car as I'm not actually a mechanic?
