reading this thread I see alot of people complaining about complainers. The Biggest complaint apart from them is people asking when.

I can see asking for certain functions/fixes could be considered a waste by some but asking to be kept informed is not.

They could post a couple of lines such as 'Patch is going well'. 'Patch is in testing'. ect whilst sipping a pint and eating a kebab and would take less time than going thru a gate to argon prime.

As for the post a few above along the lines of if you can code better do it yourself, I cant fly a plane but I do expect the pilot to do a good job.

Ego do not produce X3 because they love us they do it to get our cash. There is nothing wrong with that but forgive me if my heart does not bleed for them when they release an unfinished game and then yes KEEP US IN THE DARK about when and what is in the patch.

I would guess that even if ETA cant be a little more precise the fixes could be as if they are not on the list now the chances are they will not be in this patch.

The No News Is Good News quote in this case is not good news. Without being kept in the loop No News to me makes me think 'Oh dear' especialy after one deadline has already been missed by almost a month.

The original post in this thread is only 6 days old. That hardly constitutes being kept in the dark. Is there really any point in someone posting "we're working on it" every day? When there is something new to say, then an update will be provided.

Answer
Not quite. The original post said mid november so that is 3 posts since the release of 1.21 one of which said sorry we missed mid nov posted mid november(well over a month in all). I did not ask for an update every day but I dont think a couple would have hurt.

I see it as plain good manners. Mid november, before christmas what will be the next? Even a post of 'Patch is still on schedule' would stop people who want to play X3 from fretting. I also think after six days somthing new must be available to keep us informed and assured.

You obviously do not agree but many more posts are asking for the same thing

I would just add I can even stand being told sorry the new year as long as I am told.

As you can tell from my post sig i am a man of few words...
but in the light things i feel to need to air my vents for the last time.
This is the way i see it, and it may not be so black and white for all the die hard contingent of these Forums..

1 Egosoft produced a game that didn't work
2 people are angry, and rightly so
3 The game will be fixed (eventtually)
4 this is my first and last purchase from Egosoft

And BTW the originally post may be but 6 days old, but how long was we waiting for that post, and when the patch is released there will be a lot of back slapping and groveling to Egosoft for fixing a game that should of been playable from the start  Sorry for BORON you but as you see i am a bit PARANID, and i will soon be ARGON,then you can SPLIT on my grave......

ok that wasnt funny

note: UK release date was 28th October 2005

thats along time 2 wait for playable version of game
like i said earlier
if a certified patch cannot be release ASAP
then beta patch should be released

as some are still waiting to get round to playing this game - as when all plot holes and performance issue etc.
are fixed

I've noticed on the second version of the game, latest patch, that all the sun's output is 100%, shouldn't this vary from system to system and is it corrected in the patch?

I fear a beta patch would only cause more bruhaha. Imagine the repsonse of the beta patch introduced new bugs, instead of fixing every known (and acknowleged) issue.

There'd be hell to pay for Egosoft. I don't think they're hell-bent on damaging their reputation. ;)

For this reason, as well as their being keenly interested in their products, I'm sure they're doing their best.

Sorry to say but the original post in this thread did not say mid november, the readme for the patch before 1.21 said that, but as they stated previously, because they released the 1.21 patch it would take longer for them to complete the 1.3 patch. I am sure as soon as they had an idea when that patch would be completed they then posted about the 1.3 patch. A month is not a long time to wait for a patch, and I am sorry the game isn't working for you, that is a shame, but it is working fine for me. So be patient and the new patch will be arriving shortly, complaining about it is not going to achieve anything. Also, the info for 1.3 was only posted 6 days ago which is not a significant amount of time, they do not and will not post news everyday just to suit you. If that isn't good enough for you, then oh well, life isn't fair.

Shrug. Don't make X3 "opensource like" with patches that fixes patches that improve on the patches that needs patches. (Just like i said -97 when I was running Linux Redhat for the first time: "In two year, this baby will run better than Windows, they just need to fix the bugs in the GUI". Today i just run Windows :) )

Better to release a patch thats properly tested. Most country allow you to bring back a game that don't work. Do that. Buy it again when its fixed. In sweden you can buy the game at half its price now.

The nightmare at egosoft when costumer (Read Homer Simpson) say: "Hey you break my save with the new patch. Noooo. I did not install any beta patches. Promise!"

Black rain

I dont think I posted anything about the patch would not achieve anything. I like others here have great hopes for it so maybe your mixing up your posts

It really helps you telling me that the game works for u, thx

Again I repeat I have not asked to be kept informed every day just to be kept informed.

I'll ask you this. If you told your kids Santa will be coming some time towards the end of december how many times a day do you think you will hear. 'Is he here yet, is he here yet'.

Wouldnt it make more sense just to tell em? especially if you told them that he would be coming in mid november originally.

In the real world I would remind you, that ignoring customer confidence and good will will see you on the dole que quicker than u think. Yep life aint fair, its hard too

Added
just read your reply again. This thread may be six days old, the problems are not. So that was 2 mistakes you made in replying to my post. So u tell me how many post ego have made since announcing a patch for mid november?

the idea of a beta patch
is this:-
that it is BETA-and not a final version
& if ....nudge...
a non-offical soucre should leak it - oh shock horror
id be happy for 1
until the final 1.3 cert patch came out.[/i]

@^ true -if I miss a project deadline, i better be able to offer an exact eta to the second - or god help me.

Leaking a beta patch would be a breach of the NDA, which is a legal contract between Egosoft and the betatester. Anyone who broke their NDA would be dealt with accordingly, so don't start dropping hints that could get people into trouble.

and y would u want a beta anyways ?

ppl complaining about bugs then requesting beta versions seems kinda silly to me

might as well till its finished and it will fix the bugs and not introduce new ones or break the game completly
