But I love the rebalance on M5-M3 ships. There are no "trivial" dogfights any more. My starter Elite has been blown up by Harriers more often than I'd like to admit.
Anybody fought an M7M yet?
I've fought M8's a few times now during patrol sector missions but i can't see I've seen them fire any missiles so far.
In regards to the M7M...yes, on an escort mission really close to the outbound gate i thought i was okay, then get a message and realising i didn't have any anti-missile capability i foolishly decided NOT to run trough the gate but attack instead...I won't make that mistake again (couldn't even fire a shot - range). very dangerous ships in my opinion though possibly expensive to maintain (haven't gottten further then 20 sectors).
Which brings me to a question regarding the news system; Will the player's actions result in newsfeeds about it? Player destroys a giant ship or a large fight etc gets a message notifying other people to fear the player?

It's not just station, but the HPN and Imperial Police are still hostile and actively chasing me around. The thing is I see a small amount of them are friendly, but the majority are hostile. Can't really fight off an invasion when the local garrison also want a piece of me. Also a lot of Paranid traders also hostile to me. (which kinda annoying since my turret will shoot them if they're in range as I fly around).

Again, same thing happens in vanilla. You have to apologize to the capital ship(s) in the sector to stop hostilities.

I know that from Vanilla, but it's not working. It's like the regular military and HPN/IMP police are on different channel, the military goon is blue like normal, only the HPN/IMP are hostile. And when I try to Comm a HPN ship they don't have any option except telling me my voice is as bad as my stench.
As for the traders ... they're all over the place in the universe, and talking with the capship in the sector does not help. I have tried all the venue I can think of from vanilla.

You are hereby asked to have a look into the manual, which can be found in the folder "XTC Manual". There you only have to read through 5 pages of interesting content.
I started as terran so i'm hostile to the paranids and i've just accepted their going to be the first ones to feel my new military muscle. I do enjoy how their unescorted traders are wandering around in other sectors and i'm sure my wallet will appreciate it to.
Is the ECM in argon space in a special factory or is it sold like normal equipment? the equipment docks in the core sector dident have it so i assume other equipment docks wont have it also.
I was in Armstrong watching a Titan and Colossus slowly edge near an Akuma and Hoshi with a Akurei escort expecting to see a nice light show but they never engaged... I always thought that sector ships like that were set to patrol and engage anything hostile they see...
I watched the Hoshi drift within maybe 15-20km of the Titan but they just wouldn't go for it.
I even tried using my lil' Kite Raider to lure the Akurei to the Colossus, but nope. No shots fired. No change of course.
The Yaki M6 (name evades me) and two susanawas (?) kept chasing me and I lured them to a Cerberus. They even shot the thing as I was doing close circles around it's hull but it just wouldn't shoot 'em.
I think maybe race relations are a bit broken?
They were ASDF ships though, if that makes any difference.
(I ended up taking out the M6 and "suzies", which I'm quite proud of given XTC's enhanced combat. That M6 has such a huge blindspot...)
I've been trying to find a way to make this since I first signed on to Egosoft.com, but so far no such luck. The only thing such a sector would need is a skybox, you could place planet atmosphere below gate level to ward off pilots and have this as an "Edge of a gas giant atmospere" sorta thing.
Just thought I'd throw this out there for you guys to ponder
Hmm, the hardest part would be creating surface terrain for solid planets. Even a simple model would have to be massive to allow the player space to fly about, and that might be rather CPU-intensive.
The way you put the whole idea makes it sound largely possible, though.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.

Maybe if you mostly used clouds and just have a brown/green 'surface'. No need to go making vast mountain ranges and forests.
everything could probably all one level too
Edit:
Or just make the whole sector in the atmosphere?
take away all the blackness/nebulae/stars and replace it with blue, a sun and clouds. Clouds could just be the same as a grey nebulae.

That would work. But it wouldn't be very fun if every planet was just a layer of clouds.
I have to admit though, the idea of a couple of skyscrapers/orbital elevators/sufficiently science-fictiony structures rising through the clouds sounds pretty amazing.

Why would every planet have to be like it? Some could be massive oceans and no clouds.
Im thinking for the CPU's sake.
Oooohh... imagine a night-time sky.... seeing lights from cities under-neath ya....

I was also thinking a few underwater sectors for the Boron, I read somewhere that their ships are also submarines. Betty: "Warning, approaching crush depth."

Ok, that explains it.

That's right, in X2 there is a cut scene showing some underwater city all Boron ships swimming around.
Not sure about what would happen with other races' ships though..

Just for the record, that's a gross oversimplification, and barely true. The Argon are more friendly with the Paranid There is a lot more to that relation than... "Being friendly".
One thing I personally have missed from X2, that i would really love to see again, was M6's carrying a single fighter in tow. Especially now that M5's can be used to do active scans, I think it would be really cool to have a little zippy scout, docked up to a more survivable ship.
