Egosoft should be aware that In order to sell me a copy of X3:TC, it MUST be available through Steam. I don't buy physical discs anymore to get scratched up and lost.

If they want to wait an extra quarter to get my revenue, that's up to them. But it MUST be available over Steam to get some of my revenue.

Well, the new STALKER is published by Deepsilver, and it came out yesterday (5th). It's being released on Steam on the 15th of Sept, so 10 days of Deepsilver publishing only.

Wonder what it'll be like for X3:TC. :)

Quick, someone contact ES! :P

I'm sure it will be out on Steam at some point soon after the physical release. It's not a case of them choosing to wait to release it on Steam, they probably have contractual agreements in place that doesn't allow them to release it to Steam.

I've never understood this argument. It's easy to not lose them and keep them undamaged. Keep them in their box or the DVD/CD drive and they won't get scratched or lost. It's only when you mistreat them (put them face down on the desk, etc that you get problems.

Whether it's on steam or not will depend solely on how long the contract with Deep Silver is and what Egosoft can negotiate after that.

In my case problem is that nobody will ship game DVD to Serbia. So my only alternative is to download it from Steam or some other service like Steam. And I really want to buy this game in order to support egosoft and future X games.

Do keep in mind that what I said was only my gut feeling. I know no more than any other forum member. It could be released on steam simultaneously with deepsilver's release for all I know. :)

I'll stand by my guess though, that I think the steam release (assuming there is one, though I think it's a safe bet) will be delayed.

Aye mate, I appreciate what you're saying. GSC are a different developer to ES, and they may have a different contract release date etc. :)

The only people who know the true release plans are ES, Deepsilver and Steam. Just nice to have something to compare to, as both CS and X3TC are published by Deepsilver. :)

for X3: Reunion, it was very easy for me to keep the disc fine, as i have 2 dvd drives, and the X3 disc never left the drive until the no cd patch came out

In X3 Reunion few of them were enough for me.

In OOS they fight as sheeps(against same capital ships), but in hands of good pilot they can win most of the battles.

P.S.
Interesting, do they know anything about self-preservation ?
If I fight at M2 and it's shields less than 1/3 of maximum, I will try to jump out of the battle at least.
Yea, there is no point of having capital few class ships in X3:R really. That is why we need to make some dynamic in the game. So far, only economic has a very good dynamic.

How about the military system? Are you satisfy with killing pirate, become a pirate, killing xenon, kha’ak? Is there any objective for this?

And what in the world you can become the first rank in military without having few capital class ship under your command?

At the end of the day, you have universe economic under your control and therefore you can buy any Capital Ship. But what is the point?

If Shield Down to 1/3, boarding is now available. Even if you jump away the marine inside will transmit the signal to your enemy. Bah, this is not official. I just make it up on how can we improve the military system.

Really, you will lose objective playing this game after months/years in your real life. I really want to see what ship they can offer. Not like bounce of M3. M3+… Introduction of a Flag Ship will be the real one.
Every nation should have their own Flag

Beside Military Outpost, you can create Military Training Ground to improve royalty of your crews and also upgrade their equipment to handle any boarding party or to provide good training over boarding to the capital ship.

Each member of your crew can gain experience and eventually a military rank. So now, every capital ship must have a high rank officer. So you must train your crew up to the required rank to be able to buy new cap ship.
Or you can provide a Cap Ship training program to your crew.

Do you expect the computer will fly every cap ship you have? This is non sense.

By making this system, you will have better objectives and purposes.

I think it would be best if you'd open a topic for these ideas
Personaly, I was just fine with the old method

There have been several changes to combat that have been appeared, but most of them haven't been highlighted by (the severe lack of) media coverage.

Missile combat has been modified a great deal (at least for capital ships).

I also spotted some sort of flamethrowing-incendiary-napalm gun mounted on a Nova during one of GC presentations.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.

it would be nice to have missions wich require the player to have The TM class ship, like the "Tour of a lifetime mission from x3",but now instead of transporting passengers, you will transport damaged ships

Stalker is being released late on Steam becuase of a screw up with the media release to the American market, basically DeepSilver don't want everyone (incl. USA) having Clear Sky until its sorted. You could imagine how upset the retail channels would be if they allowed that.

On a seperate note but relevent to release worthy games.. It seems Stalker:Clear Sky is having a bit of a backlash with its fans unhappy about the quality and current state of the game. It appears as though GSC & DeepSilver released it too early, some people in the retail business are claiming an almost 30% return rate from unhappy customers.

I think we are in safer hands with Egosoft, not least becuase X3 has been patched to a good standard and the known problems discussed pretty thoroughly on these forums.

Here's a thought, Anyone know how long the gap normally is between a game going gold and when it hit's the shelves?

My reason for asking is that, The ETA for X3TC is Quarter 3 2008. Well if they are going to keep to that (and frankly from past experience with computer games i suspect its exceedingly unlikely) there's only 23 days left of Quarter 3. In that time the game has to be completed, finished testing, mass produced and shipped to various countries.
So basically if the game is going to be released on time, it had better be almost done :)

U.S. release?

Post by AjaxDude »

I've read at some sites that X3:TC won't be released in the U.S. Is this true?
How can one player flying one ship defeat a big gang of pirates?

Good flying, or reinforcements. Lots of reinforcements.

I find that highly unlikely.
