lol. There's a thread for that in here

Anyway, here it goes :

Installing XTC 1.2a using the full installation (no previous XTC installation):
1. Do a clean installation of TC. (If you haven't got one already. WITHOUT the Bonus pack )
2. Patch to version 3.0.
3. Install TC patch 3.0 to 3.1.
4. Download and Install XTC Full 1.2a (choose the TC directory when asked where to install).
5. Apply the Performance hotfix (click on that to download)
6. Start a new game.

Mind you that XTC v2.0 is in progress and when it's released, you'll need to restart your game. That mod is not yet complete so you may find some ship models missing or a couple of bugs. If you're having problems with vanilla X3TC, I suggest you fix them or try a clean install to see if your earlier install was corrupted.

If you want to further mod the X-Tended Terran Conflict mod, there is a Mod Compatibility List for you to check.

Good luck and enjoy !

As far as I know, the saves won't be compatible. But I'd say you'll have longer than a week, though in theory 2.0 could be released an hour from now. I've been looking forward to it for months and I still have no more information about a release date than I did when I first discovered XTC, as the folks working on it are basically saying "it'll be done when it's done." It could be a day, a week, or 6 months.

You could still get creative with 1.2a: when 2.0 comes out, I'm bringing over 5% of my cash, 1 or 2 capital ships, and whatever I can stuff into them!
Whole loops are pretty easy to cheat in (what with XL factories now), if you want more of what was earned so dearly. Cheat scripts + ~hr = anywhere from nothing to everything earned in 1.2a at least.
Probably no more than a couple months until 2.0 comes out though; my guess is they're messing with integrating some new features from AP, like better mosquitoes, bigger menus, that sort of thing. Might be that case that AP's big content patch will herald the latest XTC.

thought about doing a selective cheat though even if i transferred all my ships and money there's still things like exploration combat rank race relations that would be reset.

I hope you're right about the features from AP. Hopefully there'll be quite a few new ships as well, I've been playing XRM while waiting for 2.0 and the ship selection in XTC is fairly sparse in comparison. My dream mod would be all the XTC exclusive features, yet set in the XRM universe with the ships from both mods. But I digress, I'm sure 2.0 will shatter all expectations(no pressure, folks). It's just the lack of any clue as to the progress or what's yet to be done that's driving me batsh*t.

Nothing from AP is being ported to XTC, we simply do not have the time to do that if we wish 2.0 to be released before Rebirth.

As for the latest release eta, perhaps people should check our home forums a little more often. ;)

Plus the fact that it is not allowed to back port AP 'exclusive' features (bigger menus etc...) into X3TC.
CBJ wrote:Sorry, but I need to point out that this is not correct. Permission has not been granted to distribute any game files, and specifically people do not have permission to distribute files originating from X3AP for use in X3TC.

Modifications to X3TC files for use in X3TC are allowed, as are modifications to X3AP files for use in X3AP. If someone wants to take things such as plot missions from X3TC and use them in X3AP then that is also acceptable since owners of X3AP must also own X3TC. Aside from the technical limitations, with required features in the EXE and OBJ files for X3AP that are not available in X3TC, permission is not granted to "back port" features from X3AP into X3TC.
The only way to do it would be to port the whole XTC mod to AP, which is highly unlikely to happen.

X3:TC Missions are not showing up at stations

Post by zeroready »

I know I had the game (steam ver) installed once before a while ago and everything worked fine. Mostly. But there were missions all over the place. Now this time around, did a fresh install, installed xtended, uninstalled xtended, now I don't have any station missions in the Vanilla game.

Also the plot seems to be disabled. I've tried all different starts with the same result. No station missions and no plot.

Could Xtended have disabled them somehow and not turned them back on? That's the only mod I've tried so I can't think of anything else that would have turned off the missions/plot.

I've backed up game files on steam, reinstalled, deleted cat files, verified integrity of game cache, everything I can think of. I'm stuck.

Sounds like you've still got leftovers from the XTC install, the file that generates the generic missions won't work in a vanilla game - nor the one that handles plots.
The one for generic missions could be in the director folder in the main X3TC directory, as it was changed in a hotfix. The plot one would be in one of the XTC CATS/DATS.

If you're going back to vanilla, then you should be able to safely remove the director folder if it exists, CATS/DATS stop at 13, though if you do have leftovers, then you may find XTC scripts leftover in the scripts folder as well, so it may be as well to move that somewhere safe then having steam verifying the game again.

You fixed it!! Thanks a bunch. I moved the director folder and everything is back to normal finally. Missions everywhere. Haven't flown to Omacron to check plot, but I bet it will work too.

Thanks again

Im very glad to know that AP wont be added to XTC. While AP is a craze now for those who use steam, for those who can't are still waiting for hard release. XTC is my main game i play with XRM as an occassional fall back.

After all the other releases of the X verse XTC is the only 1 that takes the map styles etc further and is more like what egosoft should have done instead of milking their player base.

I personally think XTC is the best mod done (lol except for some of the ships but we all whine about ships) and i want it to stay true to their original goal.

Maybe later once 2.0 is up they can add a patch or something, but for now, to Aragon and the team.. well done and we patiently for virgin 2.0 :-)

with all due respect to your steam critism and the "AP craze" your forgetting that to alot of vanilla players AP was a massive step forward with alll the new models, ships and improvements etc, alot of modified players like arselves wouldnt notice much change as half those ships and features came from are favorite mods anyway.

Also remember XTC team donated alot of models to AP. As for steam yes its unfortunate some people can't use it, on the other hand people who simply wont use it well thats up to them i wont argue. But without steamsales (IMHO) i dont think there would have been much point in releasing AP, all the extra markettting and distribution costs would have made it a bum deal for ego. The the extra revenue helps towards rebirth costs!

Anyways this is for a different topic. I would like to see 2 features from AP implemented into XTC (and not a complete overhaul), they are jump beacons and the enlarged maps etc on the UI. they would be nice! im sure XTC team can twist ego's arm after donating all those fine models! :P

I too would like to see some AP stuff come backwards, something definitely
dougeye wrote:more like what egosoft should have done instead of milking their player base.
But then again, how would they make more money from AP if there's no reason to buy it over keeping TC right? There's probably some twisted backroom dealings forbidding XTC from getting these, despite all the modders' effort that went into AP to begin with (from what I can tell).

Uh, </conspiracy>. Better!

Never will get people mired in the anti-S&M / scripts=evil world, though. Why have just some incremental improvements from AP, when mods like this are put out solely because people love the game, and add way more content? Isn't that the essence of gaming on PC?

I did not write the above quote ^^^ youve quoted the other guys quote in my reply lol

I do agree on the other points though, there are alot of people out there who still see mods as cheating etc, probably because there only experience of modding has been downloading some stupidly powered god weapon for an elder scrolls game! lol
