I suggest that you ask a glacier for the solution then. :) (BTW, he isn't my dev!)

I think you mean't melting faster!

Although if the ES devs are melting, we're all in trouble.

I would ask a squirrel to fix the bug if I knew it had any chance of success! :D

There has been some progress and certain avenues are being explored at the moment that might lead to getting affected saves cleaned up as well. No promises yet but it is looking rosier than it did. I will keep you informed as more is released.

Update: a possible solution is being tested. Now is the chance for all those anxious for a solution to actually help out if they have not done so to date. From my last request, we received links to gamesaves with the issue from: bfifteenv, Bothersome, Ringold, and Grammarye.

If you want your affected gamesave to be tested before the solution is released then now is the time to link it in this thread. (Vanilla with/without BP only please.)

Hi weewillyweiner

I've had a go with your save and got normal (~60fps) performance with the fix. I'd like to double check though: Can you describe to me how your save was affected by the bug (which sector, how was performance?)

Here's another set of saves save I'm playing in Astroid Belt . IT's mostly keyboard response (or lack of the above) .

I really don't know which sector the problem exists in but the last place I found them is posted above --- black hole sun and Oceans of fantasy as sted earlier.

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/109659698/X09.sav

This one I had started from an earlier save and now it's performing similiarly to the one above

https://dl.dropbox.com/u/109659698/X03.sav

IF by some miracle of technology you can clean these I can help Beta test the FIX. Just pass em back after cleaning. Or publish the fix method and I'll try it.

Symptoms -- Slow mouse, arrow "," "." function keys ... Basically unplayable. It seems it does respond but takes a long time. If I do a task switch alt+TAB other tasks running in the system are responding fine. If I start task Manager and go to the performance tab I don't extreme use of CPU .

Sorry for slow reply, have been away a few days.
<Been watching glaciers? Sorry, I couldn't resist! Alan Phipps>

The two sectors I saw was Ocean of Fantasy and Grand Exchange with a hell of a lot of ships. Could well be many more as I have not ventured into Terran sectors much. Sounds very promising, thanks for taking the time to look into it personally, I really appreciate it

I have the problem in Mars. I haven't seen it in any non-Terran sectors, but I don't know if it is in other Terran sectors because I haven't been into the Terran Sectors apart from Asteroid Belt and (just to find where the problem was) Mars. (Can't remember now how I thought to look there.)

The symptoms are lack of response to the keyboard. For example I often have to press "," or "." several times, sometimes half a dozen times or more to get the galaxy/sector map up.

Here is a link to a screenshot and save file.

Well looks like there's a light at the end of this tunnel after all. How'd you clean them?

Do you still need save files?

I've got the same problem in a terran sector (though I've been using a script to kill them periodically).

Hopefully a fix is upcoming. I've been trying to nuke them with firestorm and flail barrage missiles to no avail.

If you link an affected save that can play as vanilla then it could be tested for any unwanted side-effects before the fix is finally released. Things are apparently looking pretty hopeful to date.
