Thank you so much for the tips in this thread.

I did the following, since I'm a steam user:

1. Downloaded 2.5-2.6 patch from egosoft. Ran the exe, and installed into a new folder OTHER than the X3tc folder.

2. Copied the 2.6 exe from the new folder to the x3tc folder, make a backup of your existing exe just in case

3. Opened CFF explorer, opened the new copied exe in x3tc folder, and clicked "click here". Selected "this app can use more than 2 GB".

4. Saved.

5. Started X3tc, then opened ctrl+alt+del to bring up task manager, selected x3tc in processes. Set it to high.

End result:

Drastically better FPS in the "heavy" sectors, no lag or jittering of UI which happened all the time before.

(made this so it's uptodate if people had any questions)

EDIT: My 4 GB RAM is now seeing 90%, instead of the old 63% :o

All users who are suffering this issue and need to apply the LAA flag will be interested in this post. You can apply to test the 2.7 Beta which hopefully resolves this issue for all.

Just want to say that i enabled LAA and i get increased performance and no stuttering. But i get extremely frequent 0-1 fps on sector entrance.

I'm assuming this workaround will hit your saves with the MODIFIED tag? I want those steam achievements durnit.

Setting the LAA flag will not mark your game as modified.

Edit: Just to clarify that, while the above is true, it doesn't necessarily help you as you cannot apply the LAA flag to the Steam version of the EXE and therefore can't get the achievements anyway!

So until 2.7 comes out, it's LAA or Steam achievements but not both? I'm on my first run-through trying to hit the achievements and not use any mods/scripts so that's a bummer. Sounds like some of the framerate issues I have might be solved by it. I suppose I can try it and see and then undo it later if it doesn't help...

How long will it take for the patch to come out anyways? I've already tested the beta a week ago and it worked liked a charm. I want my FPS back. :(

"A patch is never late! Nor is it ever early. It arrives precisely when ES means it to!" - apologies to Johan

Ive been using LAA in my game for quite some time now, but tonight, it seems that every sector i enter i get the 0-1 fps. only thing i can do it alt f4. This happens now with EVERY sector i enter that is not the sector i started in from the save game. It used to happen every like 10 -15 sector changes.

tested reunion and i run around 150 fps with 3 major complexes and major battles >.> (ofc its less then but not even close to 20 fps) minimal fps what i saw was 50)

so email me when 2.7 is out XD
