|
|
Hi everyone,
We are currently testing 2.7 Betas on DevNet and are looking for extensive feedback on one feature in particular, the Large Address Aware flag.
Some of you have had issues with very slow games on systems with high amounts of RAM and 64bit Operating Systems. Our previous attempts to fix this issue simply transferred it to another group of users. We are now attempting a universal fix but this requires a lot of testing before we can consider releasing it.
We can pass the Beta version of 2.7 to users who wish to test its effects. Anyone who is interested should contact me by PM and I will provide download instructions, test requests and instructions to revert to 2.6.
Users who sign up to Devnet can bypass that stage and directly download the Beta from our testing forums.
To request access to the Beta
- You must have a registered copy of X3: Terran Conflict (non-STEAM)
- Contact me by Private Message.
- In the message, provide a DXDiag. Additional information is appreciated such as a link to a Tech Support post you have submitted about this problem.
Anyone is welcome to request, but be aware that we may not provide the beta to everyone who signs up. People who need the LAA flag to play and users who suffered during 2.0 and 2.1 will be top of our list.
We look forward to your feedback and hope that it can help us solve this issue,
Owen

I should point out that the 64-bit OS is pretty much an irrelevant point with regards to the main issue. The LAA flag can benefit ANY user with more than 2GB of RAM even if they are running a 32-bit OS.

(though in a 32-bit OS you also need to change a windows boot option)

So are you saying that W7 64 bit, with 2GB main memory will not benefit
Edit...
Actually I tested a game-save and I can now enter a sector where I used to get a CTD.
See report in Level 3 Forum.

And be very aware of how much VRAM your PC is remapping.

So if we have Steam we cant test this? Kind of annoying since Steam was the only way to get TC when it was first released in US.
Either way I hope the game can be made more stable and enjoyable.

Not quite true, I live in the US and managed to get my hands on a copy of the 1.0 box version when the game was first released (got it first week of Nov. '08 if memory serves). Although I did have to wait for nearly 2 weeks after release before I was able to find/purchase the game.

Hi
So far so good. I had turned my settings down to medium texture and shader and the game was playable though ugly and still stuttering a lot.
With the 2.7 I have reset the graphic to 1920x1080x32 texture and shader on high, everything full on. Game is playing smoothly with no stuttering or hud disappearing even with seta on full.
I have been through the zenon core with a fleet of carriers, destroyers. Frigates, corvettes and fighters no problems at all and the task manager has never reported using more than 2.6meg.
Terran sector Jupiter 2.54
Family Zyarth 2.46
Big battle 2.56
No flushing or stuttering.
It’s a big thumbs up from me, well done. Long live 2.7

Thank you all very much who helped us test the changes in 2.7.
2.7 is now released!
