Eng. DVD 1.3
I can confirm that that Mobile miners still prefer to head-butt rocks - instead of breaking them with their mobile drilling system. I was watching one yesterday; I had to leave the sector before it damaged its' self, of course as soon as I left - collision detection switched off and the miner reset its self to idle, it has this habit - whether I have the rear turret set to 'Protect Ship' or not.
I noticed that this 'Nividium Miner', when not showing as idle was 'collecting ore', but not actually picking any up.

The mobile drilling system is not compatable with the Demiter mining ship (unless there's something I've missed). I bought and fitted 5 of them with PAC's and off they went to mine ore after I'd broken up an asteroid for them. They all did what was expected and continued to break it into smaller pieces, started collecting for about 30 mins game time and then stopped with their holds about 3rd full. If I re-issue the orders it repeats the same thing over and over. They have the Mobile Mining Ship as home base.
I know this has been asked before but has this been acknowleged as a bug? I can't seem to find an answer.
Thank you.

I'm sorry to labour the point but...
I found a sector called Perpetual Sin with several high yield asteroids including two Nividium. Built two ore mines and sent in the M. Mining ship and 3 miners after breaking an asteroid for them. As soon as I left the sector I looked at the map and watched all three miners heading to the next asteroid. None of them have the weapons to break a mapped asteroid but each one disappeared as they approached it. I just sat and watched as they went from roid to roid until the map was clear. I went back in expecting to find the the sector thick with minerals but there was nothing. No rocks at all, no debris, no dust. Just the two mines I had built remained.

Thank you for replying
No, they collected nothing. It seems that when I left the sector all the freshly broken rocks disappeared so they all went to the next roid. But that doesn't explain how they destroyed every roid in the sector with no more than PAC's as weapons.
I might try again in another sector and see what happens. If the result is the same I'll find a way of uploading a save in the hope that someone can discover what's going on..

I have the same exact issue. Unfortunately I didn't catch it in time. I have 3 TS set to Mine and trade minerals. Started them off as soon as I had the money to buy them. After a week of game play most of the asteroids in Argon sectors are gone - including ore belt. None of them had anything bigger than a PAC. I have tested moble mining while in sector and it seems to work fine for me, but as soon as I go out of sector everything starts to vanish. I do not know if they will respawn like they used to. I'm betting on not as I haven't seen any come back.

Is there any fix for the Mobile Mining problem?
Is there any fix for the Mobile Mining problem?
I’ve just installed the 1.4 bug fix patch. I was hoping it would fix the ‘Mobile Mining’ bug. But, I still can’t get it to work.
Can any one help?

Mobile mining is still not top notch as of v1.4
Mine and trade seems to work halfway ok... I've concluded that the ship will preselect a station to sell too... fill it's cargo hold to a certain point then deliver. Repeating the process as it see's fit.
I have NOT seen it pick up Silicon yet. As well, adding either Ore, Silicon, or Nividium into the name has no effect. It seems to just go to a random location and collect ore. Not complaining though... it IS making me money. I'm just a little peeved that i can't tell it to mine from one location and sell to station's within a number of jumps. I've had my ships enter pirate sectors then get smeared onto the side of a Carrack a few times.
The ship seems to refuse to use the MDS... seeing as how i'm useing a Mistral (they look cool alright!?!) i equiped PAC's in the top and bottom turret with an MDS on the rear... it uses the PAC's.
I can't get the Mobile mine command to workproperly either... it seems you have to fill out each selection before it does anything. I will assume this command is to be used most efficiently with player owned complexes. Instead of having an Ore mine a player could just have Mobile miner's delivering Ore to the station. Though pointless as you would need to reset the quantity everytime it reaches it's delivery number.
I personally feel the system needs to be reworked a bit. Allow the Mine and Trade option to be able to select ONE sector to mine from and a delivery jump radius option. Fix the ship AI to use the MDS if it can equip one. As well change the Mobile mine option to a system that loops infinitly instead of a selected load count. Script it so that when it has filled the station to a certain point it idles at the station till the station reaches a certain low point, then the ship reactivates and contiunes on.
I am kinda baffled that the old X3R scripts for this wern't just converted and ported across... they worked like a charm.
If it ain't broken, don't fix it i say
