There's a complex calculator for X3 which I believe to be much easier and more intuitive to use than Dukt, and it can also save designs to external files (*.x3c fies).
The program is in english, has an 'Excel feel' to it and can be found here: Exogenesis' Factory Complex Calculator and the Egosoft's forum page for is is here: Factory Complex Calculator, Ego Forum
Would it be possible for A.R.E.S to support the Factory Complex Calculator *.x3c files instead of the Dukt?

Hi LukesLeftLeg (and everybody else),
Unfortunately, I stopped working on ARES. Scripting takes a huge amount of (free) time, and at the moment I just don't have so much time left.
I don't want to say that there will never be a new version of ARES, but there won't be one in the near future.
A simple conversion of the script to X3 TC wouldn't take too much time, but the problem is that ARES still is in Beta state and contains a lot of bugs. The best thing I could do would be to re-write large parts of the script. But as I already mentioned, this would take a lot of time. Maybe I will find some time to do this in the future, but I can't promise anything.
... And even if I wanted do it right now, I couldn't, because of I'm having enourmous technical problems with X3 TC (Bluescreens, failing DVD-readers, extreme stuttering... and other funny stuff). I guess there are problems with my systems and the copy protection of TC. So I will have to wait for the next few patches...

Ahh, that's a real shame. Like I say, I think that this is not only one of the best and most useful scripts out there, but also a damn clever bit of programming.
But I do understand that real life takes priority over something like this.
That said, you say that it's rather buggy. Well, if it's any motivation for you, I was running this script for months with X3R, and I don't think I ever once came accross any bugs as a user (that is, as long as I didn't hit the J key by accident when it was doing it's planning), and I built some enormous complexes with it. The dope facory I had in Mines of Fortune had well over three hundred stations, in compact mode, and ARES did it all for me without any complaint (well, apart from the mines and SPPs).
I'm sure I speak for everyone who's ever used it when I say that I'd be more than happy and extremely grateful if you found the time to just port it over, bugs and all.
But only if and when you find the time

Hello
Any news ?
Certainly this question have been already asked before ? (i did not find it) but does A.R.E.S. Station Building Service exist for X3 TC ? I used it in X3 R and loved it !
Maybe it have a new name and this is why i can't find it ? or just no version for TC
Anyway, thanks for the reply if you have info about a TC version and i am sorry to first have not come here to ask (got locked in x-universe for that question) because i was not sure i was having to ask there and or, did not wanted to resurrect old thread and i am really sorry if it's that the case
but i really LOVED that script and i considered it like VITAL to have if not, i was not to play X3 because building complex with default system is like... a huge waste of effort and time for a poor result or i never understanded how correctly build big (+30) stations complex in X3 without it taking days because of the bad tube connection.
I any case... A.R.E.S. was very usefull.
Have a nice day.

How long does it take A.R.E.S. to actually build the complex? I ordered it to build a 30 station weed complex and it dropped all the stations within 15-30 minutes, but its probably been 10 hours since then and all it says is that it completing the station. There has been no changes that I can see, the TL's are just sitting there doing nothing, can't comm the ares station and it hasn't given me possession of any of them. Just wondering if this normal
Edit
Well after another 10 hours or so I finally stumbled on to the problem. I was bored and cruising around looking for something to do. Just happened to have a look at PTNI and found a hundred or so xenon bottlenecked at the west gate but couldn't see what was on the other side of the gate. Decided it was an easy rep and salvage mission so I wiped them all out. As usual the traffic came pouring in from the next sector and a couple of minutes later there they were. Two ARES transports heading home? As near as I can figure, they docked at the Teladi shipyard because I got the message a few minutes later that my complex was done and they were no where to be found

Dusty edited his post back in october and deleted everything. Either a big mistake or more likely doesn't want/have time to support it. It was a great program. It did have a couple of little quirks/bugs, but the time it saved you on building complexes was incredible. I can't remember the website but I just checked and I still have the zip file if your interested. It's 2.3 meg so I could probably send it to you as an attachment. Let me know if you want it.

Sure thing, I'd appreciate it if you sent it to me. That nifty little SPK saved me endless time and most likely prevented any "complex rage" I could have developed (although now I have "XTM rage" cause I can't get the damn X3 converter to port my data over from X3 vanilla...)
Yo dawg, I heard you like plasma, so we put HEPTs in yo HEPTs so you can blast foos while you blast foos!

If you can't see the download button the option to show all images in posts is probably not activated in your forum profile.-Dusty- wrote:

Well I could be out out lunch, but from my perspective the whole original post is gone. No links, no description, nothing except it says dusty edited his post back in october. I tried your links and got nothing either. That is until I started writing this. I just scrolled down a bit and saw the top of your post as I was writing this and now the ARES picture and download link are there and working. something screwy going on but no matter as I emailed it to him already
EDIT
I just checked my settings and images were on, and when I came back here to your post, same thing no ARES picture and the link just shows you a picture of the download button. I guess because I'm editing my own message it's not showing me the previous messages this time

You're not a big fan of reading manuals, are you? The download-archive contains a 21 pages long manual, which covers the installation, the usage of this script and additional information about complex building.
