I have sorted the problem out and there was a conflict with the tships file so I have fixed it now and I have loaded all of my ships the Cylon Basestar the Cylon Raider and the Galactica no problems whatsoever.
Version 1.4b is now up in the thread linked above. I did find something strange though and that was the line after the Basestar in the tships which has an error with the description.

Not sure now Cycrow as I just did a clean reinstall of X3 with the patch and then reinstalled every BSG ship apart from the viper mk2 and they all work for me no problem. I did redownload the ships off of Tensins site though and used those instead of the ones I previously downloaded from there. I'll have a look on my system and see if I saved that file though but from memory the line directly after the cylon basestar did not have a description and that was causing the error. Dont know what caused it but Im not going to take a chance and reinstall the viper mk2 as it does take a while and I think that may have some effect on it. The mk 7 the colonial one raptor cylon raider mk2 and basestar are all working fine together for me.

Edit - found it. Line 512, Col 155 - Unexpected end of document found while looking for end of string(;)

however I have also come across that other error about the description
which basically said that a description could not be found for this particular ship. This particular line appeared directly after the basestar.
I'd say it could be a case of too many mods, ships etc and something somewhere has had a hissy fit.

its caused by an error in the TShips which im trying to trace, but seems random and hard to pin down.

if you send me the shipreator mod and ships.dat files i can look through and eventally ill find the cause

the tships was from the shipcreator.cat which unfortunately I have rplaced due to the clean install. I have an old tships for it but thats all unless someone has an old copy. I'll have another good look on my system later and let you know if I can find an old copy as I tend to delete the older versions as I do new ones. Also PM me your email addy so I can send it if I find it.
Oh also the Colonial ones tships only has the colonial one in it and the editor has no problems opening it.

*EDIT*
The original Colonial One is here in this RAR along with the Viper 7 and Raptor
http://dl030.filefactory.com/dl/f/db6d8 ... abfc989d5/

As I said though I have updated the Colonial One and II havent had any problems with my new version nor had any pm's or other messages about the new one.

the main problem im trying to fix is the creation of TShips which seem to mess up sometimes, but i've been unable to reproduce the problem on mine whihc makes it difficult to fix :P

so if you have any broken tships files that the program created then it should help me find the problem

send them to cycrow@ircwhore.co.uk

Just a confirmation that there I haven't had any problems with the latest Colonial One. - thanks for the quick fixes.

Just become a father, so my aspirations for modding/scripting and to be a helpful member for the community will be shelved for now..

ok that helped abit, you dont have the ships.dat file to go with it do you ?
the problem with this one was with the basestar, its repeating the last few entries for some reason causing a mismatch in number of entries

Importing ships into XTendedMOD - Problems and a Workaround

Post by wanderer »

Hi Cycrow,

I used your Ship-Tools to install some ships from Tensin's page (http://207.5.90.130/Jerry/ComputerGaming/X3/Index.htm).

From there I used:
- Super Star Destroyer
- Executor Super Star Destroyer
- Tie-Interceptor
- Tie-Defender
- Glorious Heritage (Andromeda)

Now, as base Mod I used the XTendedMOD patch 0,6c. XtendedMod is installed and working correctly, no other Mods are installed, XTendedMod is installed in 'Egosoft Patch manner', means as 08,09,10 *.cat and *.dat.

I installed the Tie's, both were working correctly.
Now I tried the big ships, here I got problems. I could instal them and buy, equip, fly and use them without problems. Except the Super Star destroyer, here landing wasn't possible (missing dummy scripts I assume).

But also I found out, that I am now missing the Xenon Q type which comes within the XtendedMOD, it had no textures anymore.

So I tested around and found out. That, when I delete the 'components' lists inside the ship creator of these models (Executor and Andromeda) all things are working well and I am able to get all textures.

I cannot say why, but this was the problem. Cycrow, is there a problem with the Components files when processing through the ship creator/installer?
And by the way, for what are they? - Can I merge them by hand (somehow) ?

Hopefuly you can make more of this error, so your cool program can handle this problem some how.

Also, another problem occured.
I also deleted all ships out of the ShipCreator.mod, I got a small Mod package back, which included some files. E.g. a TShip file, but this was corrupt. I coudn't start the game anymore. So, I deleted the ShipCreator.mod completely. After this, X3 was working again correct.
In case I import a ship again, a new (and correct) Mod is generated. So, its only an minor problem.

regards

No sorry. As I said earlier I did a complete reinstall of X3 also. Wish I did have it though so I could pass it on to you but alas it is long gone.

I posted this a bit ago in the wrong forum post...here it is again.

Hey Cycrow...I am having major problems.

I have a few ships I am trying to install into the xtended mod.....one of them is the starfury...which I have rebalanced to 105 for play purposes. when I load a new game I go to the shipdock and purchase a starfury first thing....I get into my starfury and then eject and turn around...and no texture....I believe the ebon hawk and the cyclon raider is also without textures...I haven't gotten the others but I suspect they are all without textures..

I have rechosen the X3 folder as you have suggested as well as selected the standard game and reselecting the xtended mod in the ship manager....I am using a steam version and ship manager 1.84.....please help me....I can send you my cat and dat files via email as well....any help would do

Hi Cycrow, on your XSP dowload site the Old Cylon Basestar is linked to an X wing. Is it possible to to adjust the link.

Cheers

Thanks for the update!

One small enquiry about the ship creator.

Hawkbs has created two ViperMKVIIs identical but which use different textures. I would really like to have them both in game.

I have tried extracting the Viper MkVII files and renaming the different scenes and textures, given different ship ids but no luck.

Is there any thing simple that I can do to Blue/grey Viper MkVII in order to get into the game also?

Thanks for any help.

well u can make seperate ships either each texture.

but u'll have to edit the model files to change the filenames for the different textures.

Sorry Cycrow I'm still not getting any luck. Renamed the the texture and the ship id and still both Viper MKVII use the original red (both ships appear in the shipyards with no problems).

I'm probably missing out on one small step somewhere....

Do I need to use the X3 editor or similar software?

u'll need x2bc. Extract the ship then use x2bc on the .bob model files, these are theo nes in the list "Other Models"

then you need open up these models and you'll see materials at the top, you then need to change the textures used in these materials to the new ones.

then you can add the files back into the ship package, remove the existing ones, and make sure the save directories are the same.

however, this will cause a problem if you try to install both of them, as they will both have the same model files so one will overright the other, giving both of them the same.

So on top of that, you need to rename, either change the save directory so it puts it in a different place or rename each file to something different.

you only need to rename the ones that u've changed. As well as the scene file.

Then you edit the scene file and change the references to all the files you renamed to the new name.

once thats done add the new scene file back in under the scene tab and change the name, just edit the first box for ship scene
