Octessence: Most of your "issues" seem to have been fixed, or in the case of grammar, acceptable or normal usage in english.
Ego: I noticed that nobody has pointed out that on P. 3 (Table Of Contents) that the entry about the Teladi is missing. Split is also not capitalized. On P. 90 where it actually does talk about the Teladi, the title does not seem to be formatted, and thus it blends in with the surrounding text.
Other than the minor issues stated above, a very good manual in deed.

All of the issues I checked are still present, so I don't think it's been changed. Also, none of the errors are acceptable usage in English and no decent editor would let these through. I realise that the people who wrote it are probably German, so I'm not complaining. I'm just trying to help a bit.Tiedyeguy wrote:Octessence: Most of your "issues" seem to have been fixed, or in the case of grammar, acceptable or normal usage in english.

No offence, but I have yet to find a good Grammar Checker in a word processor. Most of them that I have found state that completely illogically writen sentences are correct, while sentences writen by groups of university English professors are flawed. Also, most of the replacements they suggest appear to have been writen by Yoda while he was drunk

By 'editor', I mean a real live human person who works for a publisher or newspaper, and has a job title "Editor". Not a word processor.Tiedyeguy wrote:No offence, but I have yet to find a good Grammar Checker in a word processor. I can feel the colour vs color talk coming on. Still, the amount of people who will be confused by any errors would be comparable to the amount of people who read instructions …….. Maybe thats a bad acronym for this topic.

But he who kisses joy as it flies

Does "within close proximity together" make sense in American then?Ebany wrote:I can feel the colour vs color talk coming on. I understand that expression to mean "close together", so it's ok to me. I allow a little leeway in grammar and a little redundancy doesn't hurt. I find the next sentence confusing "at least once or twice the width of your station away from the other connecting station)". Does that mean at least one times, or at most two times, or at least two times???octessence wrote:Does "within close proximity together" make sense in American then?Ebany wrote:I can feel the colour vs color talk coming on. Please, Egosoft, make a "printer friendly", i.e., black text on white background, of the new Manual. Just printing the first 26 pages completely emptied my $22 color ink cartridge!
This would be especially appreciated by those of us in the US, since the manuals that came with our games are pretty much worthless.
A friend of mine has Adobe Acrobat and he tried to edit the PDF, but he couldn't remove the blue background. It seems you need Acrobat Pro (US $449) to remove backgrounds.
If Egosoft can't/won't release a "printer friendly" manual, would they at least let some member post an edited manual here in the forum?

I have made a black on white version, with the images in colour, and the formatting intact.
Didn't use up much ink at all I'm glad to say.
I am reluctant to post it though, unless someone from Egosoft says it is ok to do so. Copyright and all that comes with it, you know.
So, if it is ok to put it here, would someone from Ego please say so, and tell me how and where.

Please let it be posted here. Whoever had the bright idea to produce a manual with a colour background, which the customer has to print out, should be sacked. It's bad enough we didn't get a decent/complete manual with the game in the first place, now I have to spend $100 (aussie) on ink just to read the damn thing

As plot devices yes. The Sohnen ship has one I believe and you pilot a camera drone during one of the missions. I really enjoyed that one.taronas wrote:Page 71 lists
