Wait. it seems that this battleship can have 24 L turrets, but only 16 have been installed in these pics? :?

I hope so, the Xenon I with its 20 Graviton turrets (the equivalent of 40 L Plasma) still reigns supreme in the battleship class. It would suck to see the new beauty of a ship getting overpowered by the (admittedly also beautiful) I

You're missing a big ass main gun in this equation.

That missing "big ass main gun" is no more than mere speculation for now.

All we have is the design that supports that idea...

...and the encyclopedia entry from the beta files, in which the Asgard is described "to be a moving fortress, capable of taking on even the most monumental Xenon strongholds and capital ships. It is very slow, but also very powerful, and is especially noteworthy because of its unique forward-facing XL Main Battery. This weapon makes use of some unique technology that was specifically designed for the ATF, and is no longer available elsewhere. In terms of raw single-shot damage, it is currently the most powerful gun in the known universe.

This was the last ship class designed and produced by the ATF before the organisation was dissolved and its resources absorbed by the Terran Protectorate. Despite the change in administration, the Asgard is still frequently used by the Terran Protectorate because its sheer firepower has yet to be surpassed."
So yeah, confirmed are only the 16 L turrets of unknown firepower.

16 pages of speculation? Really not enough? I'd suggest you people let the devs work or don't complain for things missing, hanging etc... If you people are so eager, join the Beta testers and report bugs (there still are of course)...

Still could be a kyoto, why would they put down text for a ship not finished yet
Though I'd have preferred a more modernized Battlecarrier design like the Raptor but big enough for internal Medium ship docking but i digress. It's still a pretty ship.

I don't know what the flagship of my fleet will be called, but I've already found the music for the military parade:

Will there be a place for my military band? And my soldiers don't want to march in outer space :)

The 2 forward-facing XL guns can be easily found in the pics and they just look like the enlarged L turrets, if you look carefully.

Given that the whole ship looks like a flying railgun, I expect more than those two guns. Those two and the 16 L-turrets aren't enough to convey the impression of unparalleled fire power.

Add 8xM dock and at least 24xS dock and you have a real flagship. Raptor might have more fighters, Xenon I might have more large turrets, but Terran battleship has all of this, plus BFG. Not to mention probably proper shielding and armor unlike Raptor.

Why you would even need more than 16 large turrets? Xenon I would probably be already half dead when it gets into Large turrets range.

Now I'm curious, where did you see the docks on this? There is one M-docking, yes, but other than that?

Look at the back near engine, especially the back-bottom view - there is 2xM dock visible and to the right (before the shield generator) it there is 6xS dock - there are 4 such sections.

That doesn't look like landing pads.

Lino explained that the docks are invisible in the screenshots, caused by the tool being used to make those screenshots. And they are on top of the ship, in front of the tower in the very back: The rectangular hole.

That doesn't exclude the possibility of there being more landing bays somewhere else, of course. However, I have trouble seeing any docking bays at where you are pointing at :D

You even have the orange landing paint stripes used for standard M docks (non luxury ones):

Here is a top view with better light, but futher distance:

It looks much more obvious than the hole between towers.

Will a battleship like this be able to make broadside attacks, perhaps in between volleys of the huge frontal gun? It feels wrong that so many (maybe all?) capital ships in X4 so far just attack head-on. I get that it was probably done because you can pilot these ships, but could we at least have the AI use broadside attacks when it makes sense (and some awesome designs that make this beneficial)? Just a thought that I know others have shared.

I'm not convinced that all those are docks to be honest. But that aside, a battleship - unlike a carrier - should fulfill its main role as fighting ship and not as a carrier for small fighter craft.

Having M-Docks in that position pretty much negates the "there are less M turrets for balance reasons" - as one just has to dock Gunboats there to get a nice aux battery.

I also doubt that ship getting M-docks at all. As Tamina said Lino talked about the docks being on a different position - and those looked like a double S-Dock. Having additional docking ports at the "wings" seems a bit strange. Also, considering they'd need enough depth for their elevators it really isn't such a nice place.

But I consider those "8 M docks" to be actually another 8 L turrets
