I'm going to update my settings now. I'll get back to you in the year 2019 with a report.
lol
Thanks
EDIT: Gonna go with 50/100/250. That seems reasonable. It will allow some ships to level, without the whole universe being level 5+

I'm so pumped, been excited for .88 all week/weekend. Question--can I reinitiate ship levels with the new settings or if something is already level 3 will it stay at level 3?
I'm playing "gypsy" style where my main base of operations is an Aran that flies sector to sector. Having information about where best to station at a given time would be great. Could you write up some kind of complicated script that would take a look at a certain cluster of sectors, determine it has a high profitability to be made, and give news saying the area around that cluster is ripe for moneymaking?Trade news was scheduled for 0.88b, but adding/refactoring the configuration menus was more important. The initial implementation will be simple, sectors within a certain radius will be sampled every few minutes and flavoured news entries will be generated whenever a sector starts to run low or have a surplus on crucial wares.
Whether this will be useful to anyone's game play styles I am not certain, therefore I am open to suggestions. I basically have the capability, (through the MSCI), to read any wares properties, (price, quantity, etc), in any station within any sector.

I think trade news at it's simplest form would be just to inform if a station's input material stock and output stock is at 0% (or a controlled threshold), with flavored text, of course.
On higher level, these station shortages could be combined to form news about a bigger area suffering of shortage(s).
These news should be somehow randomized imho, creating a headline for every shortage wouldn't be that interesting.

I'm looking forward to it.Centurion2008 wrote:This might require another Video
Currently leveled ships will retain their levels even if you change the leveling settings, 0.89b will provide an option to reset the level and tunings of all NPC ships throughout the universe.hourheroyes wrote:can I reinitiate ship levels with the new settings or if something is already level 3 will it stay at level 3?
I was going to have the news centered around the player's current position, but having the trade news cluster around core systems is a much better idea.hourheroyes wrote:Could you write up some kind of complicated script that would take a look at a certain cluster of sectors, determine it has a high profitability to be made, and give news saying the area around that cluster is ripe for moneymaking?
Agreed.46852 wrote:I think trade news at it's simplest form would be just to inform if a station's input material stock and output stock is at 0% (or a controlled threshold), with flavored text, of course.

Rather than randomised, the news will only be for significant events and will always only be for sectors of friend notoriety compared to the player and/or the core of a cluster. This should cut down on spam significantly and if it doesn't I can keep an ordered list of trade news events and just show the top of the list.46852 wrote:These news should be somehow randomized imho, creating a headline for every shortage wouldn't be that interesting.
Player news, i.e. what you do is highlighted in Aqua throughout all the different types of news, I never really thought about grouping the player news into one section if that's what you mean. It's probably not possible without a non trivial change to the foundation of the way LIFE filters and constructs news.builder680 wrote:Sector news (rather than skirmish/conflict/war/etc) would be nice. I never know if I've just had a war,a skirmish, or a conflict... I just want to read about all the Kha'ak I just smashed in the local sector news. Is it there somewhere?

What I meant with randomizing was that not every single station suffering from material shortage would be presented on the news, but rather just some of them, maybe the ones with close proximity to player activity just like you said. But not all of them either, to keep some excitement in manual trading for beginning players.Shush wrote:Rather than randomised, the news will only be for significant events and will always only be for sectors of friend notoriety compared to the player and/or the core of a cluster. @Shush
Ok sadly could not record the video i wanted lol, there where so many ships in Zenon core my frame rate went to 4, while recording.
but did make another, one thing i did notice is that the voice's now dont seem to match male to male female to female? unless alot of female's just have male names lol
other than that Zenon I's not shooting 200 plus missiles anymore nice Thank You!
New update very nice love all the customization options you managed to make everyone happy with that, dont like something turn it off, very cool.
also with the voices i have it set to maker rather than random voices, I like to have the voices match the ship maker.

Gotchya, this is what I am planning by only showing the most important events, I'd guess that a news events generated roughly every 5 or so minutes for a cluster would work well and like the current station news, a new trade news event will replace an old trade news event for the same cluster.46852 wrote:What I meant with randomizing was that not every single station suffering from material shortage would be presented on the news, but rather just some of them, maybe the ones with close proximity to player activity just like you said. I can see/hear it in your video, I'll check the code but I do not modify the sex of the speaker, all I do is pass all the actor's parameters onto the appropriate speech code. Does it happen for NPC's or only your player owned fleet? I have noticed that even vanilla X3 has incorrect voices for some pilot's especially plot related stuff. So it might be a bug in LIFE, but at this stage I am more inclined to believe it's a bug in X3 and/or other scripts/mods.Centurion2008 wrote:but did make another, one thing i did notice is that the voice's now dont seem to match male to male female to female? unless alot of female's just have male names lol

I see the same thing in my game, just now playing with XRM in AP, I had a pirate female actor with the voice of an argon male, but was named Bola Hi
. I have encountered many more of such pilots in my previous (AP & TC for AP) games, don't know if this is vanilla or LIFE.
But if it is vanilla behavior than it is because of LIFE that we now are more aware of these pilots. Funny though.

Is it for NPC ships, player owned ships or both? Vanilla definitely has issues with incorrect race and gender pilot voices, but LIFE may be exacerbating the issue especially for player owned ships.PDouma39 wrote:I see the same thing in my game, just now playing with XRM in AP, I had a pirate female actor with the voice of an argon male, but was named Bola Hi Smile.
