Your old savegame will not work with the TC installation that has XTC as part of it. But not worthless if you have a separate install of TC as it was when you made that savegame. Before I installed the XTC mod I made a backup of my original TC folder and savegames just for that reason. If you didn't, you could re-install TC to a different location and use that savegame there.Metachomp wrote:can you play the old save without the new features or is it just useless now?
Just remember that the savegames are stored in another location so to preserve your pre XTC ones you need to back up those too (or be careful which slots you save in).
I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure...

X-Tended XTC - First Impressions
After my first few hours of playing the mod, I'm starting to get to like it, despite a few issues. What put me off at the start was the combination of large sectors with everything spread out, and slow ship speeds. Most of the missions run you three or four sectors just to get to where the action is, and it was a rare thing when spawned hostiles survived long enough for me to get within weapon range. Until I was able to scavenge a faster bailed ship, I was starting to think of the mod as XTC: the Tedium Continues. Now, with something that can actually get to a mission sector before the timer runs out, or reach a couple of pirate scouts before the entire sector defense fleet does, it's beginning to get good.
The weapon rebalancing and other game mechanic changes are mostly "essential"; things that really needed fixing in the vanilla game. Now, there are light, fast-firing guns for killing those pesky scouts, which actually fit on a scoutship, and the big, slow-firing guns lobbing heavy projectiles are geared more for killing other big ships, not swatting gnats. Combat is more dynamic and balanced between ships of similar class, and more one-sided between ships of different classes, as makes sense. Overall, I'm starting to get impressed. Nice work.

Please help ime having trouble (i think) installing this.
let me explain what ime doing and other steps ive taken
1:
Installed a clean installation of X3: TC
2:
(when installed it says the version is 2.5) so ive updated to 3.0
and then updated to 3.1 (but when i press check for updates this site says ime still on 3.0)
3:
downloaded ''X-Tended_-_Terran_Conflict-1.2a-Full_Setup.exe'' and installed it (not sure if its corrupt as the installation looks like THIS)http://img844.imageshack.us/img844/585/unleddxf.png
4:
when the mod has installed the game is still 100% the same nothing changed
(only thing ive found to change something is by installing the mod to a empty folder and then copying all the files over)
5:
the mod is recognized and says xtended installed.
Now my problems
is this meant to happen or does all the gates send you back to where you already are?
like when i press a gate it says the same sector name that ime already in (and when i go through it slow or fast it send be back in the same sector)
also the universe map does show othe4r sectors (around 12 or so) but they are the only sectors i can go to
please help me here. if you need any more info from me then just ask (ile be checking here for replies)
thanks for reading
BTW i enjoy this game and ive playes it for around 3 days total playing time
(i like to just fight and make pirates give up there ships)
ive got a nice M7 haha
i also played X3 reunion about 2 year ago or more
and i remember the mod for that it was great
i did cheat in the reunion one and i got bored, so no more cheating

A couple of suggestions on the install:
The mod requires 3.1, so if it's not showing up as 3.1, that might be the problem.
The mod defaults to installing in a /games/EGOSOFT/X3TC directory, rather than the /Program Files/EGOSOFT/X3TC directory that the game itself defaults to. You need to use the "Browse" button to change the installation target.
If you still have any leftover bits and pieces from a previous install with mods, those are likely to leave configuration files behind, and those can conflict with X-Tended. I had to go back, wipe out everything with forethought and malice, and reinstall again to get it to work; just reinstalling over the top of what's there may not work.
As for the "looping" gates: those will be redirected to newly discovered sectors as the game goes on. You should be able to find at least one path to Aldrin space, which in turn should allow you access to all of the other races' regions.

thanks for replying.
Ive deleted the ''EGOSOFT'' folder from program files and installed a fresh game
also the launcher shows up as 3.1 (just the site says 3.0 when i press ''check for updates''
and when the mod is actually loaded i was flying around for about 30mins and could not reach anywhere else on the map
is there any way to open up all the map from start?
(i know there was something on reunion that did that)
ime dusty with these mods and all it was years ago when i played reunion

That's a known problem of the Update funtion. If the version number 3.1 is displayed in your X3:TC launcher and in the X3:TC main menu, then your game is on version 3.1.Chris9191 wrote:also the launcher shows up as 3.1 (just the site says 3.0 when i press ''check for updates''

Re: Xenon tech, nobody wants it?
Simply turn the appropriate plugin offSkullCowboy wrote:Got lucky and capped an N. Docked it, stripped it and sent it off to a shipyard. They bought the hull, but when I docked at a military base to sell the weapons (and some missiles I scooped) nobody seems to want those.
'Those are not bought.'
What's the logic behind that? I can see maybe not wanting other main race tech (We don't want that inferior crap! Buy Terran!) But it would seem Xenon (or Kha'ak) tech would be sought after for at least research purposes.

read the manual...
Who said they have not researched it already (and learned nothing in the process?)... its not that they never encountered xenon on their own =Pwould be sought after for at least research purposes.

Re: Xenon tech, nobody wants it?
Did read the manual. Checked it again and found what I assume you are referring to. Not exactly obvious.Killjaeden wrote: Simply turn the appropriate plugin off![]()
read the manual...
But I found a workaround, just load it into the hold of a hull I am selling. Cleaner than having to tweek options on the fly.
But thanks anyway.

Took a Long break ,came back and found this out .Great work guys, really makes for a new experience.
some observations...Is the regenerating hulls option suppose to deduct credits from the players account? I managed to buy a used Katana (got lucky 2.2 mill ),but my account started losing credits as the hull was self repairing.Same thing happened when I captured a Pirate Marauder. It was repairing while on the way to the warf .didnt see anything in the manual on it.
Also for the teleport boarding ,wouldnt a hot key be more effecting for the teleport once you get the shields down and in range?.Cause the autopilot engaging before the teleport when you use the boarding option is not as effective.Sometimes you get that same old ship meneurving around before the marines even get sent over after you get the shield down.Lets face it the auto pilot never was very bright in those sircumstances.
Just some observation and suggestions,Great Work am enjoying it alot
oops forgot ,I did turn the regen hulss off in the Al options, and they were still regenerating and subtracting credits.

Unmanned pirate vessles
I found that there are alot of unmanned pirate vessles in aldrin space and nearby. The galactic news network even reports on this.. Is this really intentional??? And what faction/race are they?? I'm asking because being unmanned (no pilot), they...............
This seems intentional, and there are even missions for them..... Fully loaded Condors, krakens, etc.... Nice!
Spoiler
Show
Well lets say i like stealing from pirates alot. And they are easy as ever preys............. I don't want to spoil it here, but salvage claim software on a kestrel..........

Ok now I am confused.
fresh install,patched as per instructions,extended installed.nothing else
m6 hulls regen with the AL option on
m6 hulls regen with the AL option off
credits are removed from the players account either way when they are regenerating
Normal vanilla doesnt have regenerating hulls afaik

Noticed that to, but you can disable it (for real this time) with the R6 Ship ConsoleKadaas wrote:Ok now I am confused.

It's probably not intended
Edit: The AL Option disables the hull repair behavior on Non Player owned ships tho

30 minutes of boring nothing is "normal" for this mod. I rarely use SETA on a vanilla game, but had to make extensive use of it in this, and it's STILL tedious..
The Argon start is the worst, kind of like a bad joke: you get dumped out in the middle of nowhere with a ship that crawls like a snail, and with about 100 credits to your name for when you finally do reach anything that resembles civilization. I believe I used SETA for all but about 20 mnutes of my first 3-4 hours playing that one, and eventually quit to play another race because it was going absolutely nowhere: about 300-500 credits total earned after 3 missions, no kills (the pirates never lasted long enough for me to get within weapon range), and apparently no reputation gain.
I'm faced with the dilemma of whether to delete the mod and go back to a "normal" game (in which I'll miss the nice ship and weapon changes of this mod), or to suffer through the long and boring missions in the mod in hopes that it will get better as my character's finances improve.

try teladi start (m4+ and ts) then. You can either sell one of both to start fighting/trading or you can keep both and try both at the same time...
or try usc or paranid start if you are impatient.
