There is an error in one MD mission which causes it to have blank mission text box displaying. This hotfix will correct the error: http://downloads.thexuniverse.us/XTC_Re ... TC_1.2.zip

This can only be installed after 1.2a is already installed. To install the fix just extract the folder in the zip file to your main TC folder.
Did that and still get a mission without a description....

did you move the whole director folder into the main folder or the contents of the folder?

@ Arghy: Probably the same reason that a motorbike and a battle tank each driving into a brick wall at 30 mph might see different levels of vehicle and driver damage. Anyway, why not either slow down or use the docking computer and avoid the risk? This is a vanlla characteristic and not just for XTC anyway.

Quick question:

Anyone have an quick, dirty unlimited salvage insurance script for XTC? I'm trying to avoid going with Cycrow's full pack, because it always leads to too many "innocent little tweaks" as my game progresses.

I've always hated the salvage insurance thing; X is pretty sketchy and bizare things can lead to a sudden and unexpected death. I always end up forgetting to buy more and running out at inconvenient times.

Script yourself 9999 salvage insurances, it's pretty easy.

The code should look something like this :

Code: Select all

PLAYERSHIP - > add ware : 9999 Salvage insurance

If brute force doesn't solve your problems, then you aren't using enough

Thanks :) Took a bit to track down the commands and formatting in the script editor, but I got it. Despite having played since Terran Conflict's release and running various mods and scripts the whole time, I've never so much as opened the editor.

Is there an offline editor? Or has all this modding work been done within the in-game editor? I can't imagine building these huge scripts with that >.<

There is a offline Editor , Exscriptor. But the internal one has the advantage, that one can test things directly... thus most work is at least partly done in the internal one ;)

hey, is there somewhere that one could petition (on hands and knees if need be) for certain of the XTC scripts to, at some future date, be released as stand-alones for the poor vanilla folks? or would it be better of me to ask permission to adapt things to other mods myself?

Had the same issue with a mission - new game, fresh install, director folder copied across, along with contents...

...The only thing I can tell you I did do is patch to 3.1 after I installing 1.2a - Could that be it?

There are two things available as standalone - the GNS and the safe-docking-scripts. For the other things, ofc permission is necessary, but I can tell you, that it will be almost impossible (without huge effort at least) to extract single scripts out of XTC, as they are all belonging together - same lib-scripts used, same global vars, same textfiles, etc.

I have the same issue. Did a clean install of TC (delete local folders entirely, have steam download them anew), installed XTC 1.2a full, then installed the blank text fix(properly).

Still getting blank mission text.

First of all, I'm loving xtended so far, it is everything that terran conflict should have been from the very beginning. So maximum respect for the xtended team  :)

Secondly, a question. I have just done a clean install of terran conflict from steam, so I have version 3.1 installed. I then installed the full 1.2a version of xtended over the top, and it works great. But the question is, can I use MARS with it, and how?

I have seen something in the MARS thread that very very vaugely hints at downloading some file and renaming it but it is not very well explained at all tbh. And some of us barely even know what a t file is let alone why we should be downloading and renaming them. So can someone please tell me if

a) MARS works with Xtended and
b) How do I get them both working together in an easy step by step way

Thankyou to anyone who can help me with this, it's very much appreciated :)

When should someone new to X3 TC install this mod? I"m only on my 2nd mission never played any X games before so i'm still a nub; but this mod sounds great and it seems like it's still very much like vanilla.

It just adds about every complaint i've had lol. But i don't want to install this and feel like i'm not learning to really play X3 the right way or something.

you know, some mods just change to much stuff and you usually want to wait till after you beat a game. But since X3 is just a sandbox there isn't exactly a way to just beat it.

Generally, you should get through the main plots (final fury, terran plot, some steps into the goner & hub plots) of TC, since our mod removes those. Once you feel the old universe is familiar and slightly boring, then it would be a good time to cross over.

ah, slight issue here. My last question is suddenly much less important now. I have started steam and although I had selected "do not automatically update this game," it has automatically updated the game. So, what now? Will Xtended not work any more? And how do I get it working again exactly as before? Thanks again for your help guys.

Hm. Yay steam, I guess - so much for all the arguments that 'steam doesn't ruin modded games'. I would suggest reinstalling x, then installing 1.2a full. Savegames should not be spoiled, if you didn't save after the update. What the steam update did to your old install, I don't really know - as I don't know which files it replaced.

noooo[...]oooo :(

I only just reinstalled TC the day before yesterday so I could play Xtended. Now I have to do it all over again. Totally lame. Also even more lame is the fact that I'm sure I had selected for it not to automatically update X3. Well, never mind :(

Oh and thanks for your help X2-Eliah :)
