I seen you post a few fustrating outcomes with your installs. I was waiting for a guru to reply with some insight? I am only a follower and game player. I have the X-gold package with the popper egosoft updates then xuniverse mods over them.
With past post I have see where people got steam and tried adding xtm or egosoft updates which crashed with steam.
Q. do you have a steam download? maybe that might be the problem, I ran into my own quirks and stuff, but your thing just reminded me if it might be a steam thing?
Maybe someone else, A GURU might be able to clarify the steam thing or your starting base installation.
Oh the fun of restarting x3tc all over again!

Nope, clean DVD install (one of the first as I preordered back than). I will wait if others report the same.

? DVD? which game package was it that you preordered? Maybe if you post which dvd or package others might be able to comment on it or give a ssimple fix if it is the vers of dvd AND if not, helps the (DEV group OR die hard members) mimick your starting point install to see if they have the same outcome.

Byt he wa, patch adds dummy entries into Tfactories for Gaz's Complex Cleaner. How to install the complex cleaner to the game?
I intend to use clean (patched) X3:TC + full 1.2. Should I add the complex cleaner as last cat. dat.?

A normal DVD from Egosoft preordered two years ago. But as the vanilla game is fine, there is a problem with XTM. I just do not know if on my side only

Also post what VERISON your DVD installs for TC 2.0 or 2.1 2.7 then upgrades to 3.0 3.1 "without bonus pack". I only have x3r disc AND the complete gold box which came with "x3r" and xtc starts at "2.1" or 2.7 I think.
Last suggestion I know it sucks, but try installing TC on your hard drive away from the typical root. say like C:/x3/xtended/XTC/"here"
do clean updates and nothing else, then the xtended files.
That is all I can say, I will leave these posts for the xtended stuff since this is another topic of troubleshooting XTC install. I would not even know if it has anything to do with .net dlls or other secondary OS software since they did rewrite the game platform in a way?

Thanks, I tried to reply but first I must register. O.K. Done. And now I must wait till someone agrees if I am worthy of being allowed to ask my question.
Anyway, my game is on a D drive in a different directory already. And yes, it is a clean install with only Xtended and MARS (really do not know why MARS was not incoroporated....). As mentioned, it is one of the first DVDs made, so it is version 1.0.1, updated to 3.0 and then to 3.1 Still crashes.

Hmmm, MARS?
1st - maybe that is it? I only did my XTC clean, then upgraded to 3.0, no bounus pack. Then I installed xtc 1.1 and did not have any combat crashes.
With you posting about MARS maybe a guru can comment on that, or that you installed up to 3.1
2nd - D: drive, maybe the game is looking for files on the default C: drive and thats is why it might crash? only a dev would know that answer how the game refrences game location files.
Just let this be and maybe a DEV might be kind enough to comment on it.

Well if it is MARS, then it does not matter. I would not play any X game without it anymore. Will wait and see if someone knows more.

Does a XTC dev or writer know 2 things?
1. Does MARS conflict with XTC 1.1 or 1.2
2. Does installs on a D: conflict with game default locations when game tries to ref files? should installs with XTC only be on the C drive?

This mod looks really great, i have downloaded and read the manual but there are still some things i wonder. How much action is there in the current universe compared to standard tc? Standard tc atleast have a fair amount of repetable missions and some race invasions pluss the standard plotline. What do this mod have? (i am aware that certain aspects havent been implemented yet in the mod, i am just wondering what it currently has compared to standard tc)
I remember back in 1.1 MARS wasent supported so that may be it but theres also still alot of unique bugs and problems as the mod is still in beta. I had the problem where ECM and laser overcharge would never appear in any of my games no matter what i did.
I would also suggest stringent crash trending so you can give the devs a good idea of what could possibly be happening, location when you crash, ships in system, ships in combat, weapons being used and things happening in the universe. Once you've found similaritys then the devs can track the problem alot easier.
Damnit i had a inkling last night that i should install X3 just to be sure but i dident! welp atleast i'll be able to seed the torrent until X3 is done.
i believe at the moment you have the generic station missions but the new main plot missions for xtc will/should be coming with v2.0, as stated many times by the devs that will be released when it is done and it aint an easy or quick task to do so big respect for them doing all this in there spare time. i know pro developers with less comitment lol
I used to list PC parts here, but "the best" will suffice!

Thanks for replying by the way, and i do agree with you, kudos to the developers, i know how much work it is, great work on their behalf.
There are Xenon invasions, and Commonwealth invasions of Xenon sectors; you find out about them through the news bulletins. Doubt they involve sectors changing hands though (if that's the sort of thing you mean).
No i dont need sector overtakes, just some military action back and forth. Thanks for the answer. I was loathe to start playing extended if there were far less action there then in standard tc as of yet, but now i will. Cheers!
