CAG hasn't been working for me the way I liked so I tried to uninstall it. But I couldn't because I did not find the file setup.plugin.economics.pck. Could this be why CAG doesn't really work for me?

"*.economics.*" are EST script files. CAG is the "commercial agent". And CAG has uninstall procedure, and it certainly does not start by removal of files.

"Copy file setup.plugin.economics.pck from "\scripts.uninstall\" in your X3TC folder to "\scripts". Run TC and load a saved game. Uninstallation is automatically started and finished when a message is sent to the logbook. Uninstallation takes 10 to 20 seconds from when the game was loaded. Save your game."

thats what I'm talking about. i didn't say anything about removing files either. i was looking for the first file to copy.

Hey for some reason this is not working for me. The command for CAG is not showing up under the trade menu. The EST and CLS commands show up but not Cag, I can't figure out why? My ship has the necessary software. Even if i didnt, the command should still be there, but it isnt.

Sorry if this is already reported (very long thread), but I've noticed that CAGs can jump into Terran space and bypass the trans-orbital accelerators.

Scenario: I was using some fully trained shopper CAGs to supply my Hub, and I was also using it as a collection point for scarce Capital class equipment (x GJ shields, FLAKs, etc). The Hub was positioned between Heretic's End and Asteroid Belt (only because I was using Heretic's Defence Station as a base of operations, and wished to keep the Hub close).

In any case... I was reviewing my traders, and noticed that my CAGs were visiting an Ore mine out in one of the Unknown sectors behind Oort Cloud. They were jumping into the sector at (0,0,0) in order to get there. Upon further investigation, I saw that the CAGs would also jump into other Terran sectors via (0,0,0) in order to grab shields from Terran military bases and Defence Stations.

Also -- after beginning the new Aldrin missions, I caught CAGs from other facilities visiting Aldrin in order to trade goods there. There are a couple changes made to Aldrin when those missions are started (I'll avoid spoilerish details) however the system remains isolated from the jumpgate network proper.

Hmmm i seem to be asking a lot of questions RE CLS and CAG at the moment! Please bear with me!

Right I am using a CAG to supply the HUB with NPC bought resources. He is the maximum rank and has a fully upgraded Mistral Super Freighter. The jump range on the station is set to maximum I.e. 50 jumps and I have him buying Teladianium at the moment.

All was working quite well, I've set 10% of his cargobay for jump fuel, I.e. 1500 units, should be more than enough for jumping round the whole universe! I watched him make a successful refuel to confirm all was working and then left him to it

Problem is that he sometimes seems to prioritise getting ware rather than jump energy, it only happened once but it rather annoying.

What he did is this:

He jumped to a sector leaving him with only 16 EC's in the hold, then he went and bought a load of teladianium totally filling up his hold. His stated order at this point was simply to fly to the adjacent sector.

It was lucky I was keeping an eye on him and I foresaw a potential problem and dumped 500 units of teladianium from his hold and watched him. When he got to the next sector he headed for an SPP, at this point I had to stop playing but I'm pretty sure he'll refuel and jump back to base (the HUB).

I'm sure that if I hadn't intervened manually he would either have sat at the SPP not able to buy any EC's or slogged back half way across the universe without the jumpdrive.

I had a look at the settings on the first page of this thread and you can't seem to set a maximum amount of the cargobay for him to use for trading (like the JD fuel).

Would supplying the HUB with EC's so he can refuel from there every time he drops off rather than NPC stations help?

Yes, if he has enough jump fuel at the homebase, he'll use that.

I think the resource "gobbling" nature of the Hub throws off CAG's prioritizations, causing them to focus on the resource being gobbled, at the expense of others. I sorted the issue in my own game by assigning more CAGs, therefore spreading the workload, but a simple AI jump-freighter with orders to buy ecells ought to sort things out as well.

i think I've got round it, I set his jump drive reserve to be pretty high so he'd be hard pressed to run out, then supplied the HUB with EC's and he seems happy topping up from the HUB. Lets see how it goes!

Extract the CAGZip into the X3TC directory ...

..\scripts\.. to ..\scripts\..
..\t\.. to ..\t\..

... and the same with the LibrariesZip.

I read in the first post its possible to run unsigned scripts without starting the script editor, however, how?
I know you have to change something in the boot file, but what?

There are script files that the game always loads, and there are script files that the game loads only when it is in ***modified*** state. It is the filename that makes the difference. Activating the script editor turns the game into ***modified*** state. Automatically loading an unsigned script turns on the ***modified*** state as well. However, "faking" unsigned script to be a file to automatically load can potentially cause problems.

Name of a script file and name of the script procedure in the file must be identical (sans filename extension). So both have to be changed. Names starting with '!' ... The "boot" starts with "setup.", IIRC.

Any drawbacks by turning on the script editor? Will it interfere at all?

Not really.
  • Your uplink stats are marked as modified - and hence don't show up on the (fairly pointless, to my mind) stats list and medals.
  • Official tech support only supports vanilla.
  • EDIT: Oh yeah - you get to see extra info which you might regard as cheating.
