500 ships, all fighting, while you are In-Sector?! Yikes!

No wonder you are having frame rate troubles! It has nothing to do with IEX, and I don't even know how you get that many enemies at one time. Even Ulfius's Xtreme Mode rarely produces much more than 100 enemies, even at the highest fight ranks.

The only mod I know that helps in a battle like that is Improved Combat Frame Rate. I install it only when I have a huge battle, and uninstall it the rest of the time (because it is less "pretty" than vanilla effects).

...Improved Combat Frame Rate[/url]...
Hi, Moonrat,

As I stated before, I use Omnicron as test sector for ship and loadout combinations, I let them work OOS, then go IS to compare.
When I stay IS too long even my argon-brothers turn red (happened again today, then I have more then one screen-list of enemies, With at least 10 capital ships) . I was far more easy for me to fly for argon to Saturn or Mars and kill 4 pointed-out ships for them (500.000 cr), I wasn't even scratched ! :o
My m2's are fighting in Omnicron for days now OOS, THE WAR NEVER STOPS ! (IS You will die earlier, meaning: in real life - no food no sleep ...) So, save before you go there to start a fight ! (easy to crank up Argon rep and loose Terran rep !

i also already run ImrCombRate so let it be , let it be , let it be...

Nice fights, leko

PS:Next, I will go and test a Xenon sector :xenon:, should be more interesting (with one finger on the jump button !)

Greetings ,

I need help with a problem.

I run XRM 1.26d on X3AP in windows 7 .

I decided to try your mod so I started a new game.
I followed your instructions and installed the cat/dat AND XRMi files on both TC and AP folders . (although I dont know if i had to install XRMi in TC folder also, but I did anyway )
I also set view range to medium and tried also the nofog tbackground file I saw in a previous post ( I thought maybe it was a frame rate thing ) .

Now most of the times (but not all of the times, seems random ) that i jump in a sector i crash to desktop
and get this message:

Code: Select all

Problem signature:
  Problem Event Name:	APPCRASH
  Application Name:	x3ap.exe
  Application Version:	2.0.0.1

Before installing your mod game was heavily modded but was running fine for quite a long time.
I didnt use the XRM background cat/dat .

Any help appreciatted ,
thanx for your time.

**EDIT:
Problem solved .
Did some digging , its a known issue for X3TC .
Seems TC is calling on a false mpegdecoder , probably something left over from some other media player . Renamed the file and the issue is no longer :)
Has nothing to do with your mod , sorry :)

Hi, HoPLoN

If you did all this IN THE RIGHT ORDER:
>>XRM (1.26b.3c)

A small 'fake' patch is required to experience IEX within XRM, this is called XRMi and can be found page 1
Unpack the zip file and then order the cat/dat files as follows:
IE
IEX
XRM Part 1
XRM Part 2
Any optional XRM packs but NOT the Backgrounds pack
XRMi
This needs to be done in both the main TC directory and the AP 'addon' directories. A new gamestart is recommended.<<

and it does not work properly, delete the files and reinstall (which you should always try first with any script behaving strangely)

If this does not help you will have to wait for the "drB" to advise you since I do not use XRM.

Good luck, leko

No problem, it is sometimes difficult to see what's causing the issue with X. Thank you for self-fixing this. I'd not heard of either IEX or XRMi causing an issue like yours before. The present version of XRMi (1.26b.3c) is good for the latest release of XRM (1.26d) and a few days ago it passed the 400 download mark

I can only assume therefore that a). it's stable and bug free (?) and b). rather more popular than I thought it'd be.... I'm currently working on IEX 1.4a at the moment but it'll be a few weeks until I have something to share. I plan to release new versions of XRMi and TCAPiex along wth it.

First of all, I'd like to start by saying that this mod is fantastic. The effect you get in some areas truly blows away the vanilla atmosphere.

Now, my only issue with it so far is the pop in effect you get with the stations on sectors with some fog. This can be seen easily in Terran sectors like Uranus. My question is, is it possible to increase the draw distance for stations while keeping the fog?

Thanks for the compliment. I''l have a look at Uranus to see if it can be improved.... :D (sorry, old joke)

What I could do with is a list of anywhere else (foggy) that doesn't work as well as perhaps it might. The problem I have tho' is best summed up in that mis-quote from Abraham Lincoln (I think)....

You can please some of the people all of the time, you can please all of the people some of the time, but you can’t please all of the people all of the time”.

I do try tho' with IEX, hence the alternate seperate files that are available to be downloaded to adjust the mod. where possible.

Yeah, Uranus is pretty horrid... :(

Anyhow, I'm gonna go and edit the TBackgrounds file myself and see if I can increase the draw distance without messing too much with performance. Maybe if you could include a custom TBackgrounds file with different draw distances for future updates people won't be tingled so much by Uranus and other nasty sectors. Anyway, I'll try and update you with my findings; I have a high end system so performance isn't so much of a problem for me, maybe then you can include this file for other peeps to try out.

EDIT: Goddamn. I'm completely r*******, just noticed I didn't install the XRMi file and I was just seeing part of the changes. This mod man, this mod. Why would you even go without this is beyond me, the light and planet changes with this mod are just astounding. Also, the fog isn't so much of a problem now since I noticed the changes. Great job man, though you murdered my beloved Twisted Skies ):

IEX 1.3c + associated downloads are compatible with both Terran Conflict 3.2c and Albion Prelude 2.5.2

Did XRM 1.27 break compatibility with the XRMi, or is it okay?

I don't know... When I went to work this morning XRM was still at 1.26d and now upon my return it's at 1.27... :D

I'll have a look tonight...

EDIT : Just one entry on a couple of stations so the existing version of XRMi is almost Ok for XRM 1.27. However in order to keep up with the pack as it were...
I'm going to release IEX 1.4a shortly plus all the associated other bits including XRMi and TCAPiex.

An updated version of IEX (1.4a) is now available here (314MB) and it contains the following changes...
  • New Background Textures: burninghorizon2 (Tempest, Ocean of Fantasy), foggreenoutlands2 (Enduring Light, Eta Psi)
New Moon Textures (with some now rotating) Grey, Brown Crater, Dark Crater
Slight increase in draw/fade distance in Uranus
The latest XRMi release (1.27.4a) covering both XRM 1.27 and IEX 1.4a is here.

An updated compatibility fake patch for TCAP using IEX 1.4a is also available here.

NOTE: If you want to use the latest XRMi or TCAPiex fake patches then you must also download and implement IEX 1.4a correctly.

I had planned to include many more new moons in IEX 1.4a but RL and the release of XRM 1.27 meant that this seemed like a good enough time as any.

Please let me know of any problems or feedback...

I believe that some folks in Russia are having a problem downloading IEX + and so I have now uploaded IEX 1.4a to an alternate mirror.
The 2nd "here" on the OP now points to this copy.

I have also added the following to the OP...

NoFog
  • For all those pilots who don't like foggy sectors this file needs to be placed into the main 'types' folder for TC and/or the '\addon\types' folder for AP.
This file is compatible with all versions up to and including IEX 1.4a, plus all downloadable sub-components including XRMi & TCAPiex.

Did you mean for the link to the nofog fix to be a file or all those pages?

I noticed this before and I don't know why Mediafire tries & fails to be "helpful" in the case of small '.txt' files... in its defence however there is a green download button top RH which gives the desired result. So as to avoid any more confusion I've compressed it as a '.rar' file and it can be found here. The OP has also been updated with this link.

Hi, i am using a the combo of XRM/IE/IEX for AP and have a minor graphics issue. I am running a GeForce GTX 480, no graphics overrides via the nvitia control panel. My issue is that when i have dynamic light sources turned on everything is waaaay too bloomy and shiny. Is this a "feature" or an actual bug?

I've no idea I'm afraid and this type of bug hasn't been reported before. Can you send me some screen shots of one or two named sectors please so I can do a compare.

Sure. I will set some up when I get home later today. Befor we I left my house I noticed that the bloom would go away if I used x's launcher and not really the plugin manager.

This doesn't sound like a problem with IEX at first glance, what other mods do you have loaded?

Ive got a quick question: is it at all possible to use the sector info and such in Galaxy Editor, and still keep the visuals? I have tried and I seem to be doing SOMETHING wrong because when I put it back in the Cat/Dat (forgot which) with X3 Editor 2 it doesnt seem to register all of the backgrounds. P.S. I dont change the backgrounds themselves, most of the changes I made were some planets in some sectors and adding stations and in some places more asteroids.
