Unfortunately the 1.3 patch for me hasn't been a success  Frames are down is really jerky in Ore belt and other places with lots of voids was down to just 1 or 2 fps earlier when going against just 2 pirates in Paranid Prime it CTD's when I restart a saved game. Didn't have any of these problems in the last version. :?

No, this is fully intentional. Only the very largest asteroids can have mines built on them. The smaller ones are just rocks, and are only good for breaking up.
Thanks for the clarification

Please could you make a visual distinction between asteroids? (I mean different type of lock or something similar)

This would avoid spending hours analying the same asteroids, speciall the ones that are not suitable for mining stations.

Through the sector list is not possible to lock the "usefull" asteroids and when you are in between thousands of roids. Its not only timespending but also frustrating.

Also, these asteroids contribute to lots of LAG... how about an option somewhere to switch them off? Thanks

Ego don't seem to be able to fix one thing without breaking something else at the moment.
  • I have 2 GB of RAM and a 256MB video card. Why is X3 still having to access my HD every 2 seconds, causing huge amounts of stuttering, especially during combat? I even tried killing off every nonessential process, leaving me with about 10, including X3, and it still happens. Not one of the game files is fragmented (I've checked). So what's going on?
  • The Mass Driver is apparently now the new PSG, in the sense that firing it at another ship knocks your FPS down to 1 or 2. Ego: make the f*cking hit effects optional if you can't implement them without killing performance.
  • Stability (or lack of it): X3 has been unstable from the very beginning, but I thought matters were beginning to improve with 1.2.01. Unfortunately, 1.3 has been a huge step back. CTD's (which I had never had before) and general lockups are very frequent now, and make the game almost unplayable.

3) Complexes: Sell Intermediate Products; They DO NOT appear on "Products selling list" (under Station Adjustments) So its impossible to set a selling price.
Regarding that point, let me add the following.

You have provided the option to sell intermediate products (kind of all or nothing). And "player" traders now can sell them what is great. But...

Now, as example you set your station with "sell" all my intermediate products. And your complex is also set to trade with all rates. What would happen?

1) Would all intermediate products (those that are stock piled and without stock piles due to internal consuption) would be sold regardless available quantities?
2) Would be sold only intermediate products that are stock piling?
3) Races would not be able to buy those intermediate products only player traders would able to sell them?

Now regarding "player" traders selling intermediated products... What would be the base sell price for them? I suspect that would be the default (averange price)... there is no option to set the sale price for those intermed products.

Thanks

I think most Reunion players are that busy trying to kick the ass out of the enhanced Khaak Destroyers & Carriers that appear regularly on installation of Patch 1.3 that they haven't got time to post on this Forum. In my game, a number of Split sectors, Tharkas Sun & Thyn's Abyss have almost been obliterated by the said aliens & my Plasma Throwers don't even scratch the surface, so its extremely risky visiting these secotrs. Thyn's Abyss is even worse in that it is now on a Xenon supply route - I guess M1 & M2 ships are in order.

My advice to a budding entrepreneur is not to set factories up in border sectors unless you have capital ships willing & able to defend them.

Anyway - less of this ranting - the Khaak fleet awaits!!!!

Don't know if this has been reported yet. but it seems the paranid ships are the same as yaki used to be in previous versions. :? Haven't encountered yaki yet. so they might have change them both, don't know that yet.

Dont know if its just me but when i started a new game of x3 with 1.3 patch installed, there was some new asteroid clusters. Fine. But what i dont like is that this patch of asteroids doubles/triples every time i re-enter the same sector also does this when loading a saved 1.3 game. Kingoms End is nothing BUT asteroids now and a nice example of fps problem here is that when i started the new game and went to power circle the first time the fps was smooth as hell looking around the system. Now when i re-entered the sector about 10 mins later after only jumping 1/2 sectors away and then made my journey back going to power circle the asteroids had doubles and fps was not smooth anymore, ships/stations were same just doubled asteroid groups of the new clusters.

Can egosoft check if these new asteroid clusters are spawning new clusters like this and can a fix be brought out in next patch please. After a few days i would expect now each system to be nothing but asteroids and totally non playable.

After futher play of this horrid invasion patch I too have found that the hordes deminish although after much devestation. I've rebuilt my two factories in the north (Boron Gas and Teladi Swamp Weed Plant) and built up a gathering and trade fleet for these two again. (Boring as hell to have to repeat all this). Placed the one Dragon I could afford at my Swamp plant and a couple of novas and several busters at the other. I'll have to slowly build my UT fleet back up since I lost my wonderful level 25 pilots to the invasion.

Been playing awhile now with this rebuilding phase and only seeing handfuls of pirates again and an occassional Khaak cluster like before. These handful of pirates are no match for my Dragon. ;) But then they aren't coming with destroyer class armadas anymore atm either. And it seems they only like to come through Profits Share and not always aggressive. I have no clue where they are headed, but, some of them don't make it cause "I WANT MY REVENGE" lol

I love this Dragon, never had one before, but, the firepower is awesome. I can blow a pirate out of space in a few seconds with 1-BHEPT 3-AHEPT 2-APPC 2-BIRE an another AHEPT in the turrent. (couldn't find enough BHEPT's that the empire would sell me, only the Splits love me enough to give me Betas. lol

I think the mongul horde invasion is over and now there's just a lot of respawns and the normal attacks and skirmishes like before only the AI has better quality equipment and ships this time respawning that wasn't before. This I can handle. I don't mind losing at "faiir" odds, but, losing to an armada like I first saw wasn't fun at all.

Man they took out a lot of good factories, especially the medium shield and weapons ones, ones I depended on to supply the building of new ships. lol Smart Pirates.

It was horrid at first, but, at least for me atm it's died down to a level I can deal with. But, maybe on that note an invasion like this every so often in the game wouldn't be so bad as long as you're prepared for it. But, patch 1.02.01 lulled most all of us into a blind security that the AI was going to be soooooo easy and we could build up a trade empire with easy and without fear. Heh well now there's FEAR buddy! lol

So those that got smeared and slaughtered, go ahead and give it some more play time. Just rebuild and enjoy it like it used to be only with more activity out of the AI now. ;)

Ok my 2 cents the Bad Auto Pilot flying into Asteroids and killings me :(

Now the Good

Started a New game as the Explorer I had a list of abandoned ships... I suck at trading and I wanted some starter cash with out modding.

So to the point lots of flying ..... I would stop and help out ships being attacked by pirates flying so fast I could usally do hit and run I actually got a few of the small ones and had to flee from the bigger ones..... I get to the sector of Treasure Chest and claim the Buster S :) and start it back so I can sell it I fly next door to Black Hole and there I find an Invasion Force I kid you not Xeon L's M's and N's so many it filled an entire section of the list even just on ships it was the scaiest and most amazing thing I have ever seen... :o

I dove in to help my brothers took a N or two and died a few times got tired of that decide to fetch my Buster jumped in it came back and started a massive counter attack on my own as there was far few Argon ships left when I came back from Treasure Chest sector.

That had to be the Best few hours of my gaming life in a long time  Two Thumbs Way UP.

When it was all done I had Capped two L's and almost totally cleared out the entire sector. One L had 81% hull Left :D the other was badly damaged so I sold it to pay for repairs to my new favorite toy.

Since this thread seems to be turning quickly into an amalgamation of different topics, and someone brought up "Complex" issues, I'll post the question here;

How the freak do you see what the products' cost to you is once you have included the factory into a complex? All I get is [0] under the Cr column for each product. And like someone mentioned, it sucks not being able to set a sell price for intermediates ~_~... Yes this is my first complex that has intermediates, so it's the first time I have encountered this problem.

You can set a sell price for intermediates! There is an option at the bottom for buy intermediates, sell intermediates and buy/sell intermediates. If you are just selling intermediates whatever number you set on the slider next to it is the sell price, if buying and selling then whatever you set on the slider is the price for both options.

The game runs much much smoother. Previously I hat 35fps at the start of the simulator and 10 when in light combat and 2-3 in heavy combat (5+ ships) in the simulator. Now it's 50fps at the start, 30 in light ocmbat and 15 in heavy combat, which makes the game quite playable.

I think this patch is excellent. If the game was released as v1.3, it would make more people happy from the start. The only problem I have with 1.3 is that it was released right before my exams! I will not play games until 25/01/2006 because of exams!

Seriously though, I am somewhat dissapointed that M2 docking didn't make it in. At 200 votes in my poll, with a 9:1 for yes, I think it should someday be included.

Good points = bit smoother

Bad points = 2 to 3 hundred asreroids in some sectors, and frequent crashes.

To be honest its sorta our fault for the asteroids as we always wanted dence starwars style asteroid fields. We got em there great, but performance and re-spawning is a let down. Just wish every sector didn't have full on asteroid fields though as i mean why would the gate builders and station owners build there if there is asteroid fields which blocks or blows up ships and stations.

1.3 is running great for me now. The huge influx of enemies, especially Xenon, was a one-time transient effect from the patch.

I'm guessing they got thrown out of Xenon sectors or something since there are fewer ships in there for me now.

Running great now anyway.

For those having game freezes after Patch 1.3 - try to reinstall the codecs as mentioned in that sticky in tech Forum "For those missing WMFDIST.exe or with audio problems" - did wonders for me :)

And, hey, nice Job Egosoft :D

My only problem so far is that I simply cannot find any stations that have tuning kits, rudder ops, or cargo extentions for sale. As soon as I dock, the stock goes to zero. If I undock and target the station for details, the stock is back. Very frustrating for they don't seem to want to sell them to only me. Thanks for listening.

Sounds like you've already upgraded them to the max. Check your ship details screen.
