I've been trying to merge your tdocks with that of the SRMv0.83 mod.
I've been failing, badly.
Can I trouble you for some help?

@Varek Raith
I'm going to assume you know how to merge tdocks. I've had a little progress merging the mods. basically...

Change the number of entries (in SRM) in the 3rd line of tdocks from 87 to 96 (to reflect the 9 dummy stations) then copy/paste/overwrite the fdn/pm entries in. You'll have to unpack and modify 9951-L044.pck because it contains wrong text which will mess up the merge. I just deleted them since the 9910-L044 does that anyway. So far it works ok on that end.

The problem I'm having now is the shipyard install which will add FDN Nodes but not the Relay or Trading Post. No problems with the PM. With the dock install fix most work but I've found a shipyard going blank in Siezewell. I'm just going to wait on script updates before i proceed any further.

Probably not your fault LA, as the Teladi Shipyards in SRM are modified by Cadius xtra ship/station pack. It's only a model change tho. :? I wouldn't know where to start with that issue. :P
But yeah, blank when docked and the nodes/pms show up as products in sector map so it does function as a shipyard.

I have the same issue and I only have FDN & PM installed. Must be FDN.

I have no idea why it happens, it works on most shipyards, just ona few it doesn't.

I have put a temp fix i place that skips Teladi shipyards until I can fix 100%

BUG:

There is still an issue with FDN docks installed at race shipyards. For the majority it works, however there is one confirmed shipyard in Siezewell which I can confirm does not work.

I have updated the set-up file to skip all Teladi Shipyards until I can find the root cause.

FIX

Edit: Been testing all morning an the fix works with new game starts, as does the first fix.

Still not sure what caused the issue, still looking into it.
I'm starting a new game and will see if it happens as the game progresses.

Just wondering how I go about upgrading to v7 of both fdn and pm as currently i'm using v6. I realise they are not save compatible but does that mean to use v7 I have to start a new game?

Okay, thinking head on.

There is now a know issue around custom station install which can affect shipyards randomly.

This looks to be a bug with the game itself, rather than a script caused issue.

There could be a way around this issue, not installing the custom docks to any race owned shipyards. How about a custom interface that allows the player to order Logain Industry stations and then select a location for the new station. I can then do an auto deployment script, so it looks like LI have deployed the station to order.

It’s not original as I’m sure others have used the same approach, but I think this is the cleanest and will ensure that I don’t inadvertently screw-up peoples games.

I will start working on test script today.

I don't know if this would make problems of it's own.

But how about, as a suggestion, add Logain Industries Shipyards into the mod pack. Deploy them in Core sectors and have your stations available from there.

This means you get to leave standard shipyards alone but your stations are still buyable from shipyards.

Ok, i shut up now.

That will be a first! ;-)

No, honestly keep the ideas’ coming.

Yes this is also an option I’m looking at, it’s easier to implement than a custom service, but there are a few considerations.

It will need a monitor script to ensure that the Shipyard isn’t destroyed but I can run that via the al-plug-in timed event.

There is also notoriety to take into account, currently the level of station available is linked to your standing with the race you buy from. Not sure how deploying a custom shipyard will work, how do you keep good relations with a custom shipyard?

Will installing custom stations to custom shipyards still cause the issue? As I don’t know the cause I can’t guarantee that adding custom shipyards will solve the issue

A custom interface may be more work but there is no way it affect the game.
I can link what can be bought to the players trade rank? Just an idea. I could also provide some station information which is missing from the games own shipyards.

I can also tie in the PHQ & Blueprint fix to the new script.

I’ll have a look at both options, but I do need to get something out within the next couple of days.

LA

Edit: How about adding additional shipyard for each race which only stocks LI stations. This would hopefully stop any issues with the existing shipyards; and the player can still buy custom stations based on their standing with a favoured race?

There will probably be other considerations; it’s more game changing than having a custom purchase process. At least with a custom menu you’re not affecting any existing game mechanics.

Check player notoriety to sector owner race that shipyard is in.

NO !!! People will just have to wait until you get the best workable solution ready for release. Rushing just leads to more problems. Take it from he who has already done that to often.

Here's an idea for a custom interface.

- For a player owned TL, add an option in the captain's comm menu, something like "Deploy a custom station".

- Show a window to select the station then allow selection of location.

- TL docks at nearest shipyard.

- Cost is deducted from player's account and the station is created in TL cargo hold.

- TL moves to the selected location using JD if installed and enough EC.

- Spawn station at location when the TL is within, say, 5Km.

I was thinking,

- Select station from list
- Select location to build
- Hand over hard earned cash
- Wait randomly for 4 to 5 minutes
- Receive message that Logain Industries has gone into liquidation and your purchase can no longer be delivered

If you're adding shipyards, why not go all out and stick your own brand all over it. Create an LI Corporation!

I'm not suggesting a full on corporation mod. How about picking an Unknown Sector, such as Avarice, or one of the quieter pirate sectors, and put an LI shipyard in there. You can then have a one location superstore acting for all LI products.

Steal a super-shipyard model, or a Corporation HQ, and you can create quite an air of significance. It would also mean that acquiring and setting-up a network with FDN or PM would be significantly more work, which would be justified by the power of these scripts.

I think it makes more sense having a sole location for your products, too. Rather than have this unique point to point FTL transference system available from every shipyard for every race.

How you run it is still debatable though. The 'order' system sounds pretty good. If you took this idea, ordering your stations would suit the premise of dealing with a large corporation.

Not an Unknown Sector. I usually like to take those over for my illegal goods production. :)

Apricot does it so speak with him. He creates his own branded Shipyards in the core sectors (at least Argon Main but I think others) that sell only his stuff. Then nothing else gets modified and it is easy to update/control. He might also make it owned by whichever race sector it is in but I can not remember. That would probably be the best option.

As for if the station gets destroyed I would have a timer that just checks and if you wanted you can add an option to also manually run the check if you want to in the FDN/PM menu.

Also do I need to use UM or GPR anymore with the new scripts??

GPR needs to be updated to work with 7, I’ll finish the update once I’ve addressed the shipyard issue.
Consider UM discontinued post version 7, I’m moving everything to Cycrow’s excellent Pugin Manager

That is all I need to know. I will remove both of them from my game.

Thanks.
